What do you wear on your feet in Thailand? Or is it nothing at all?

I do not expose my toes in SE Asia. I have seen too many foot injuries ruining lives. Ripped off toenails, festering cuts, pus filled wounds...

I've worn open toed sandals or flip-flops nearly all my adult life, both in Africa and SE Asia, happy to report none of the above. And I don't wear socks. Current favourites are these Ecco sandals.

What, like the 30 Baht kind from the night market? Do you wear socks at least to hide your minging toes?

I wear Gambols (outside) or I go bare-footed (inside and outside at home). I'd venture to say that 80% of the time I'm barefoot. I've let my latent hippie roam free.

I haven't tied on a pair of 'shoes' in 25 years.
'Teva' sandals for general wear, Crocs for the worst of Rainy Season, and a pair of motorcycle boots for touring.

Yes, I agree. My life has been ruined by a cracked toenail! Ruined!!!

Oh yeah. When I road motorcycle, as a minimum I'd wear shoes of some sort.

I have a pair of high-ankle riding boots that I bought in Japan that I use here. Too hot for me to wear full-calf boots!

For walking the dogs and riding my bicycle, I wear cheap trainers & socks to absorb the sweat generated by wearing trainers.

These are the only times I wear socks or "closed" shoes. All other times outside I wear Gambol rubber sandals.

Inside the house, I am barefoot 100% of the time.

You got sepsis? That's harsh. I know a guy that lost three toes because he got cut by some some rusty piece of metal while wading through a Bangkok flood wearing flip flops. I hope you recovered and didn't require amputation or surgery

Good for you glad you have never had a problem. We all prepare for Life in different ways, and have different social milieus.

I personally think that closed toe shoes and long pants in public garner more respect from the Asians

I discovered slip on Skechers last year. Good quality and the best for me for walking or most occasions. Very comfortable, I only wish I found out about them years ago.. I only wear flip flops around the house.

Good lord that's rather judgemental.

I do own a suit, and scrub up rather well when necessary.

But even at work and in the office I wear shorts and sandals; I'm employed for my mental skills not my sartorial elegance.

At all times I am Barefoot In The Head. My feet, however, are naked in the house. In the garden, slide plastic shoes.

Elsewhere a pair of ankle socks, to hide the stubborn dirt on the rims of my feet, and a pair of laceless shoes or "posh" slides, e.g. leather uppers. I can't be arsed with shoelaces any more.

Slides as opposed to flip flops as I can't stand having that 'bit' wedged between my toes.

"Slides" - that's what they're called! Ditto for me re: flip-flops. Hurts after 5 minutes.

if going out wear handmade size 48 Diabetic shoes or sandals

around the house slippers as 44 appears the largest size here = heal on the floor

Please, what are diabetic shoes?

Besides expensive, comfy, to protect unnecessary discomfort, abrasions, leading to broken skin, leading to dangerous infections, diabetics have a hard time fighting sometimes.

My favorite shoes for the moment is barefoot shoes.

How's that going? I've considered (and rejected) that idea in the past.

He runs free most days.......100's of acres of sugarcane fields, miles of nature reserve.....so we have no control over what he's up to.

Ours are fenced in to our 4000 sq. metre garden as we're on a main road. Two have already been hit by a car. Both survived though.

Yikes.......at home he's in a very secure one rai, but like you, there's a busy road near by and he will try to attack 28 ton lorries without a second thought.

Ten minutes in the car though and we are well away from the danger.

I actually bought them to walk on the beach, and now got now one pair for gym and walking, but use original naked barefoot on the beach. Still wear flip flops and other shoes depending on place and time. Normal streetwear for travelling, hotels and emigration just as example

Bought Tractive gps for my cat, priceless to keep track of where he is and get him inside the night.
