I don't know what you want as you seem to tackle every comment..... Happy for you that time stood still for you... 20 years ago I dis not need to pay 500/600 THB for entrance fee at a National Park, but maybe 100 THB even 10 yrs ago....while Thais could enter free or 20 THB...

The fees vary from park to park. Some are free.

In 2005 I paid 3,000 baht deluxe samui bungalow direct price. Now 6,000 baht.

In 2023 I paid 900 baht deluxe lanta cabana with agoda.

Same standard much cheaper.

Agoda was only founded in 05 and didnt list such great deals back then.

You can only compare the same accommodation at the same period of stay... All other prices are not comparable

Dual pricing is not new. It existed many years ago. Many places have it.

Does it matter? Dual pricing is not new. Ko Samet has had it for many years. Muay thai has it.

The prices for air travel, especially international, have risen and I paid a lot less for my first flights here and back to the US than I do now. They've stabilized in the last few years but are still higher. My first flight was $500 less then they are now.The prices for everything in Thailand have risen, and will continue, as they see westerners will still keep paying.

In the early 2000 I paid from Europe to Asia around 1200 usd for economic tickets. Now today I pay the same, how do you manage to think the prices for airline tickets have gone up? It is 25 years between? Before covid, tickets was redicolously cheaper. Half price

Dual pricing happens in other places also. It really isn't fair, as the average expat spends more money yearly here than the average local, but that's them. To compare a little, a resident Texas deer hunting license costs me $7. If I wanted to hunt Montana for just deer, it would be $744.

I only can compare from 2015 till now. My first ticket round trip from Texas to here costs $735. Last year it cost me $1200. Same times, same third party seller, Cheapoair, which I've used many times as it's less than direct from airlines or travel agents. 20 years ago they might have been, and likely were, even less.

I the time frame or span over the years, 2007 - 2015 was the gold age for us from the west thinking of the flight prices, and also our valuta exchange rate. Since then thai baht have gone up, and after covid the airline tickets gone up as it used to be back in the days, but we have to consider the inflation during this time as well. So 1200 usd back in the days is not the same as today.

Yes, $1200 USD in 2000 is likely almost $2000 today. Tickets now are still around $1000 round trip in November to Texas.

$3000 at 28 is 84,000 in 2006

$6000 at 22 baht is 132,000 in 2026

132/84 is a rise of 57% which is more than inflation which was 42% over that period.

You still don´t get it! You have more money, but that does not relate to that Thailand has become cheaper. You still get 22,5% less for the money you have. Get it now, or is it glue in the coinbox, so the baht don´t fall down?

So whats the consensus then?
Bar fines were lower, mamasans weren't as mean.

Thing is, there's a big difference if you come to Thailand in your 20s or in your 60s. I wish I would have known about Thailand when I was young.

And that's the main difference - what age you come to Thailand. NOT the barfines.

Your post makes no sense. First you claim money does not matter than you claim 22.5% difference matters.

Make up your mind lol

Yes, I make sense. You are posting that Thailand got cheaper today, than 20 years ago, when the fact is that you get 22,5% less for your money. That you got more money, does not make Thailand cheaper. Same as I referred to before. If you win the lottery, does that mean it´s cheaper in every country today, compared with 20 years ago? But, I know, I am talking to a wall.

No nation becomes cheaper in nominal terms. Inflation hello

All relative. If your army pension goes up 3% and Thai inflation is 2% it is getting cheaper in real terms.

But you started to post that Thailand is cheaper than 20 years ago. So, that´s my point. You don´t get more for your money, so therefore more expensive. That you have more money, makes you can afford more, but the 22,5% still stands.

No, it´s not. You are getting richer in real terms compared to the currency fluctuations. That you get more money from your country does not affect the reality.

Thailand is still better imo
