Non-o marriage visa from Laos - how to book time slot

Featured Replies

How can i book appointment these days in Savannakhet or Vientiane while residing in Thailand (thaievisa.go.th -It is important to note that you are only able to apply if you are currently not in Thailand.)? Do they accept walk-ins or have enough daily slots for same day to book on arrival day through thaievisa.go.th?

You apply online whilst you are in Laos. You will need to submit proof of being there, passport visa/entry stamp for instance.

You do not book an appointment. After submitting the application you will I believe receive an email advising you to go to the Embassy/consulate and pay in cash, they do not yet accept online payments.

(I think that these days you may or not get the email to go and pay. Yo can simply go along during the days/hours indicated on the relevant website and pay).

OP, have your e-Visa application all prepared.

As soon as you enter Laos and have entry stamp you can submit application.

Next step is to attend embassy/consulate for payment.

Then wait for eVisa email.

Process time is short after payment is made.

Print out hard copy of the eVisa for entry to Thailand

Is non-o marriage visa ready for next day or should book 2 nights in Laos?

Website says 5-10 days but all recent reports suggest a lot faster. 1 night might be a bit optimistic however.

Going to take longer than that.

For day of entry you make the application.

Day 2 payment at consulate.

At a guess 3 nights would be min.

It takes as long as it takes.

You are confused on how the process works now that all consulates in the world are on the eVisa online system

Whether you use Vientiane or Savannakhet this is how the process works
You GO to Lao
You upload all the required documents, fill out the data fields, submit your application online via the eVisa web-portal (making sure you upload PROOF you're in lao; your visa/entry stamp),
Once you submit the application you get a QR code which you take to the embassy to get in the gate so you can pay for the visa (2000baht cash).
Then you wait in Lao until the visa is approved

Note; you can start the application, fill out the fields, select the consulate visa, upload your documents BEFORE you go to Lao, <- you just CANNOT submit it until you upload proof you're in Lao, you leave the application in your "profile" on the eVisa website

BOTH Vientiane and Savannakhet are about 3-5 business days for approval on "regular" Non-Imm visas (Non-O, Non-B, Non-ED, etc).. .

I just got my SETV from the consulate in Vientiane. I submitted the application on Sunday evening , got the doco with the qr code which I downloaded. Next day went to the consulate ( not the embassy- there are 2 places, make sure you get the right one) , printed the form and queud up to pay . I got the visa by email later that day - brilliant service and much faster than my non-o from the UK which took around a month. One small point that might be useful- for printing out docos, if you use the people outside the consulate, they need the downloaded item sent to the printer by Line or WhatsApp. Better to use King photo digital on the main road just below the fountain. You can email the doco to him and he prints it out for only 7 kip (10 bt ) . Nice guy providing an essential service for a small cost .

Ps. I can recommend the Phonepaseuth guest house 15 mins from the bus station. 650 bt plus free breakfast 😋.

Easy to change money at the Pongsavan bank booth just inside the shopping centre opposite the bus station.

'4 . Financial evidence showing monthly income of no less than 40,000 THB or having the current balance of 400,000 THB (e.g., bank statements for the last three months, sponsor letter)'

What is this? I remember single entry not having financial requirement. So no non-o marriage visa for under 400k married quys?

You remember it right, but that's no longer the case. You do need to meet those financial requirements nowadays.

What about visa exempt while being married? Ever denied entry for married guys bouncing border?

Visa exempt entry is not related to martial status.

If extensive history of living in Thailand with extensions based on marriage, entry visa exempt may draw attention.

Your history is not clear.

It would be unwise to expect them to allow you more visa exempt entries than anyone who isn't married to a Thai. Because from immigration's point of view, those staying with their wife should get a visa/extension based on staying with their wife - the very visa you enquired about first!

Border bounces are still a thing though, within limits, so if you need some time to prepare for a long-term visa, you probably get away with a few, at least if you use a border bounce service.
