MacBook air problem

Featured Replies

My MacBook Air was showing signs of wear and tear and problems after 12 years of use. I did 6 years ago backup and reset the computer but it started acting up again with the icons just bobbing up and down when I click on them so what seems like 10-15 minutes.

So I took it to a Tukcom and they said take it to Studio 7 Central, I did and the guy said he could do it no problem. They didn't. Then I went to terminal 21 and the guy in there said that nobody in Thailand can fix the problem now I'm wondering if there's anybody here in Thailand who could fix it for me, that is to Backup and Reset ....

There's a place on Soi Country Club, a hundred or so metres on the right if you are travelling from Sukhumvit.

Isn't there an ICare in Central or have they gone. ?

I have a MacBk Air of similar age, used only when travelling. Still working fine but the software can't be updated.

Time for a new one or other Apple variant ... so many to choose from (laptops, tablets ... ).

FYI, if you can afford it. The new M1 Mac Airs are nice machines.

You don't say where you are but from the replies I am guessing Pattaya?

Dr Macbook in Bangkok are the number 1 Mac experts. I have no affiliation other than having had great service there on a few occasions. Very knowledgable, very very honest (one fix would have been expensive so they showed me a workaround and didn't charge me, despite taking my machine apart to check).

I would suggest at least emailing them your problem and they will advise you.

I endorse the recommendation for Dr MacBook in Bangkok.

You might also like to consider buying a new machine. At 12 years old, this is a very, old computer well beyond its reasonable expected lifetime. A new MacBook Air with an Apple M chip will be a revelation compared to your old machine. Alternatively, Apple just announced the budget model Macbook Neo which you might like to take a look at.

I'm on my 3rd MacBook Air - (change them every 5-6 years or so)... current one is coming up on 4 years..

When its time that Macbook Noe seems like a great option - I hardly do any editing, playing games etc on my current Mac so don't need the high-spec...

Additionally, when my son needs a computer I'll get him something like that - I did spend 13,000 baht on an Acer something (for school) - it was so slow and rubbish he stopped using it and used his iPad instead - so an extra 6000 baht for that Macbook-Neo seems very well priced.

TedG.....cant afford it mate ....my plan now is to convert the Macbook to Linux ....funnily enough I had a computer running Linux just before I bought the Macbook.....

JosephBlogs....I have been reliably informed by many differen sources that " there is nowhere in Thailand that can fix an Apple machine " ....

Richard_Smith.....Im 71 and I will never buy another macbook.....Im now looking for the cheapest option ...Put LINUX on this Macbook or buy a cheap new computer

Ok i think I answered everyone and thank you all for the input , much appreciated and most notably no one can definitely say where to go !!!

I think he means this place in Soi (Siam) Country Club, about 100m from Sukhumvit on the right hand side as posted. Pic from StreetView.

Copy this into Google for more info ศูนย์ซ่อมmacพัทยา

or look at their website here:

https://macpattaya.com/

It could save you having to go down the Linux route.

From their website it looks like the're affiliated with Pattaya2U behind Tukcom so if they're closer you could drop in and ask them.

Well I'm reliably informing you that's nonsense. Dr Macbook exists solely to fix Apple machines (computers, laptops and phones).

But up to you.
