A motorbike taxi driver, Bui Quang Hieu, has been arrested for assaulting a female passenger and damaging her luggage at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. The incident, which occurred early Sunday, has raised concerns over public order and security at the airport. Hieu, 35, now faces charges of disturbing public order following widespread outrage over the altercation.

Police reported that the 39-year-old victim had just arrived from Hanoi and was looking to arrange transportation home from Terminal T3. Upon approaching Hieu, she realized he appeared intoxicated and decided not to use his service. Her decision led Hieu to react aggressively, as he believed she had committed to the ride and then backed out.

In a fit of anger, Hieu reportedly hurled insults, dragged the woman's luggage onto the road, and smashed it. When the woman objected, he pursued and physically attacked her. The situation de-escalated only after other drivers and bystanders intervened, at which point the police were notified.

Authorities quickly identified and detained Hieu for questioning. His actions have been criticized for causing disorder in a busy and sensitive area, further heightened by its proximity to the airport's gateway. With the case now under investigation, officials are focusing on ensuring such incidents are mitigated in the future.

The arrest has also prompted a review of airport security measures to prevent similar occurrences. Police are urging passengers to remain cautious when arranging transportation and to report any suspicious behavior immediately. Meanwhile, the focus remains on maintaining a secure environment for all travelers at the airport, reported VN Express.
