stay 1 night in a hotel while on under consideration stamp

Featured Replies

I am asking for a friend of mine. So, he is on under consideration and he has to visit the local immigration again around the end of march to get the final stamp. He is staying in a house and he has a 1 year lease agreement and he has the tm30 already registered to the immigration system, but he likes to go to hotels for 1 night sometimes. It's not a problem? Can he do that without having to risk issues to get the final stamp after the under consideration period? He just wants to avoid that hotels might update his tm30, he wants to keep the current tm30 that he registered with the lease agreement of the house he is staying right now

No problem.

That won't cause any problems with the under consideration period. It won't cause any problems in general.

The first time it COULD cause a problem would be his 90-day report. If they see that his last TM30 was filed somewhere else (a hotel) and not at the address he lives at, they could reject the 90-day report saying that the most recent TM30 doesn't match.

This is completely immigration office dependent though, as some require a new TM30 when returning from a hotel, and some immigration offices do not.

Worst case scenario he needs to file a new TM30 for his home address before re-submitting the 90-day report.

in the worst case scenario can he just visit the immigration office to re-update the current tm30 just showing the lease agreement, copy and tabien baan of the owner's house?

As usual expert advice.

Unfortunately Thai immigration offices vary.

Back to OP, an update of TM30 should not be required.

Why would he be attending immigration?

well, because chiang mai immigration wants an update of tm30 even if you go to stay in a hotel for just 1 night but then you return to the same address ( my friend's house in this case)

So you know what to do, I don't know what the problem is then. Just file a new TM30 notification as per the local requirement.

Samui require new tm30 even if you are only away for 1 night. Depends what office the op uses.
