So, on the average these 83 DC charging sessions were brief and many times starting at a point on the Atto's charging curve (above 65% SOC) where the max charging rate allowed was approx 57KW (i.e., 65 to 85% SOC) or 32KW (i.e., 85 to 100% SOC) per the Atto BMS charging curve. Probably only around 30 of the 83 times was my SOC low enough (i.e., "below" 65% SOC) when beginning a charging session that I would charge in the 80-88KW ballpark for a while which is the Atto's max charge rate allowed by its BMS charge curve. Yea, I was just topping-up whenever I could regardless of SOC since the ReverScharger DC chargers were super busy during that Aug-Dec 2024 timeframe from many people trying to get free electrons.

Other than that Aug-Dec 2024 I rarely DC charge other than on a few trips and/or very brief DC charging sessions just to ensure I could still use or checkout a particular charging network (i.e., PTT, Spark, PEA, etc). Summary: I've had little need to DC charging based on my driving needs and range of my Atto. And my Sealion 7 with even greater range makes DC charging even less needed.

Regarding whether my Atto 3 was made in China or Thailand, it was made in China just like your Atto 3 .

And to close out with battery SOH, I don't think your Atto's SOH is bad....I think it's OK-fine just like my Atto's battery SOH is OK-fine. From scanning back through some of your posts I found your 2 Jul 2026 post with a CarScanner snapshot showing your Atto's SOH at 91.68%. That's almost identical to my Atto's battery current 92% SOH "according to CarScanner's method of" guesstimating" SOH...and it is a guess. As of 15 Aug 2026 my Atto's battery's SOH is 92.0% according to CarScanner, but I figure based on the battery's original and current OBD2 data "Amp Hour capacity" that it's actually more like 95.9% after 73,000Km and almost 3 years of driving....that works out to around a 1.4% loss per year so far.

I expect your Atto's SOH is actually around 95% also when comparing the batteries "factory fresh" Amp Hour Capacity rating and its "current" Amp Hour capacity per OBD2 CarScanner data. While CarScanner uses Amp Hour info to guesstimate SOH it does "not" use the OBD2 data actual "factory fresh BMS Amp Hour Capacity reading of the battery pack" but instead uses the Amp Hour rating of the blade batteries before constructed/installed to build a "pack" of many batteries connected in series....specifically, 126 blade batteries in the case of the Atto 3 Extended Range 60.48KW battery pack contained within your and my Atto 3's.

I think the "real world" range difference we are seeing between your and my Atto's is "driving style/speed" (i.e., my frequent 90kmh driving compared to your frequent 110-120Kmh driving) as driving at 120Kmh vs 90Kmh causes our Atto's power usage to go from around 13KW to 23KW while driving along....a BIG jump....depletes a battery SOC a lot faster. And also tires since you swapped-our the original/factory tires for "wider" tires which probably cuts range probably around 3-5% due to rolling resistance although improving road grip. But the driving speed and a lot of your driving being on fast moving highways where little regen power comes into play compared to my driving on slower rural roads/Bangkok area roads where a good amount of stopping, slowing down allowing regen to feed power back the battery is also a key play in range. it looks like your charging habit was in a way that didnt really affect the battery health much. 93% at that age is pretty good, much better than my 89%.

My SOH according to BYD is is 89% as measured by them. he showed a screenshot of a BMS Diagnostics tool saying 89%

like you said 120kmh uses 50% ore more battery as compared to 90kmh, I am totally against racing on public roads, its selfish, but I cruise at the speed of the majority, that here in South is usually 100-110.

I did way many more DC fast charging on the Atto3 during most of last year between March and December when I didn't have reliable electricity. at our driving rate, around 5.0 MWh from DC fast charging last year. This year we have solved the electricity problem. my new garage with 7kW charger finished, next I am installing 10kW solar panel on top it. very soon I will have free electricity, which I estimate 4.5 years break even since I have a battery as well.

The pricing is (generally) in on the XPeng L03 and I'm a bit disappointed.

The LR Ultra is more than the cheapest G6 and way more than the highest spec Deepal S05. I was hoping it would come in at about 1M THB.

The 3 x Turing chips are the headline being a tech led cars and videos of the P7 in China showing that the XPeng FSD is very, very good.

Presumably, the chips are yet to be trained on Thai roads (they train them using video much in the same way that AI is trained) so I assume the self driving would be either not available or not very good to start.

The Ultra also has massaging seats and self parking - features my girlfriend is interested in - so that is the one I had my eye on.

Oh wow! The updated SL7 800V is game changing if the price stay the same. it should still increase i believe. 800v chips are still expensive and larger battery.

I'd pick the new updated SL7 anytime over the xpeng but not, in any way over the IM5 💓.

@PakWhan 20" is nice, I recoommend it, if you like more sporty.

Because a 20" would have /40 or /35 tires on a sport sedan.

On 19" you are getting /45 or /50 depending on style, this is softer and more bouncy than the shorter profiles.

I think Geely have unbeatable value for money now in Thailand.

Yes it's a REEV with an engine/generator but the pure BEVs with a long range that I'm interested in are significantly more expensive.

The oft-quoted Electric Viking estimates he uses fast chargers on trips he takes roughly every four months. I'd say the overwhelming majority of people would fit in the same category. So for practical purposes, most people in reality would feel much the same as you.

Still, it's not nothing, especially considering most people don't aspire to buy "old tech", when new tech is available through other brands and/or models.

Yours is the EV geek's perspective, but has very little to do with real world non-tech (or slightly tech impaired wives) - and I completely understand where she is coming from.

Wife did a similar trip up-country with her SL7 AWD, a little more than 1000 km, predictably frustrating for her, compared to her prior simple drive-in, wait for the low wage attendant to fill up, drive off experience on gas stations as plentiful as traffic-lights - compare that to searching for an EV charging station with a free pile on an app etc. To wit - she made a reservation in one place, mistook an EV charger 100m prior to hers, waits for 20 minutes, just to realize her mistake when her reservation expired while she waited at the wrong place - yes, 3 giggling chicks on a road-trip is no excuse, but even I have to admit it could happen to me, too.

EVs and the pathetic charging infrastructure in Thailand are not yet ready for prime time - and don't get me even started on the primitive low rent 120 kW chargers that sag to half if both piles are being used simultaneously.

And that is coming from a guy who bought 2 EVs in the last 15 months.

My experience is completely different to yours. In my opinion, Thailand has a superb charging network, but I think we are in an intermediate stage before we get very high-powered chargers.

I don’t believe it’s necessary to book a charger.

On a recent 4,000 km road trip we never booked any chargers, never used any apps on the journey to find free chargers, we just pulled in to PTT’s and charged.

We saw a fair amount of Spark chargers but only as we passed them, almost every one empty.

I suspect there were free chargers where your wife booked but she ignored them and waited for the one she had booked, incorrectly as it turned out.

Kidding aside, I am sure a lot of EV owners mature and get a hang of the public charging trials and tribulations, and younger folks will never understand why I find it ridiculous to have 20 different apps to use on all the networks, apps are like cool games to them, the more the merrier, lets hand out our private information everywhere.

I have not used many different chargers, but when I do, I have watched a lot of users struggle with DC chargers in ways that seemed to me was frustrating to them. Sometimes I try to help - little things like being patient and wait a minute or two for the handshake, it is not as intuitive to some as it is to seasoned users.

I'm glad to hear you find Thailand's charging network 'superb' — though for me, it's the caveat that matters. Everyone oohs and aahs over newer cars that charge faster, but what good is that when the infrastructure itself crawls along at a snail's pace?

some charging companies offer auto-charging, which helps a lot and makes things much easier for non-tech-savvy people. but the whole charging system in thailand still needs a little more time to become truly user-friendly, especially for people who are not used to all the different apps, charging systems and procedures. and hopefully, the dinosaur-era 120 kw chargers (which are often shared, so you only get 60 kw) will eventually be replaced as well...

for someone who just wants a simple, hassle-free charging experience without having to study all the details (like my wife), charging a bev in thailand today can still be quite a challenge ...

I think you’re over complicating it, don’t use apps to find chargers, don’t plan your stops, just pull in to service stations when you need them, on the major routes, most stations have chargers, especially PTT’s.

A couple of times we would pull into service stations and go straight out again because they didn’t have chargers.

Your experience with PTT chargers is sure different from my road trips outside the Bangkok area where I've found PTT chargers routinely in use when pulling into a PTT station during the prime daylight hours. I would estimate around 75% time the charger slots are full when I have pulled into a PTT station. Can't speak charger availability during night time hours.

Your experience matches mine and I very much belive others too,

I can't get access to fast charging most of the times unless booking in advance, 2 hours in advance is enough however.

Some of the PTT station I've been relying on charging weekly has one gun broken or both for at least a month or more.

I can see the queue is quite large most mornings when I stop by to eat but not to charge.

Mostly byd and Jaecoo, I've not needed to Fast charge the car lately, the battery is large and I can fill it at home.

Some stations here in south have been broken for many months even.

These screenshots are from this morning.

Charging infrastructure might be great in Bangkok and Huahin ,Pattaya cities like. But outside it needs improvement, at least fix the broken ones and add a few more heads to busy stations.

I dint don't see improvements at all, I don't want more stations, distance wise is enough here but almost all stations need some work and improvements that are cheaper to do like fixing broken ones, maybe adding some roof at the charging spot, maybe add 1 more box at busy popular stations.

Another issue is that some cars can only use one spot like the ATTO3 that can only be reached when on the A port, port-B side won't reach in some ptt stations due to cable size and setup of the charging box.

On the subject of charging infrastructure and BEV sales.

Last month, about 37% of new car sales were BEVs. If that trend continues - or anything close to it after a new tax structure is announced in September, a lot of new chargers will be needed to keep up with increasing numbers of BEVs.

It will be interesting to see how fast the new chargers will be too.

I charge at home, pointless to drive an EV without solar panels and home charging.

HAd an EV for over a year, never used a commercial charger once.

The Chinese ones have better tech and are cheaper, they even come with much larger battery, like the Geely Starray that comes with 18.4 kWh battery, 9 times bigger than the Nisssan and you can charge it (30KW DC), while the Nisssan you can't charge the battery with a wall charger.

with REEV have a much smaller battery that drives the car price down. while still being a EV motor driven, without the need for a transmission.

REEV cars dont have a transmission, just the Gasoline engine that runs at a specific optimal RPM for that engine to charge the battery.

I am surprised some of you guys are having trouble finding free charging stations.

We only charged mornings and early afternoons, we were at the next hotel on our route by early afternoon.

We were traveling Chiang Rai to Khao Lak and back stopping in 9 or 10 places on the way.

Apart from that road trip we charge at home on solar.

Here is an interesting fact of having a REEV in Thailand.

I wanted to compare the cost per 100 KM of:

• Pure EV car Charging at PTT at 7.9B

• Pure EV car Charging at Home at 4.4B

• REEV car with Gasoline price at 37Baht

• Hybrid HRV (just for the comparison)

• A diesel PPV (fortuner legender 2.8)

So picking these cars as example and using Gemini Pro for the logic and calculations, I got these values for the cost of 100km :

BYD Atto 3 (Home @4.4Baht) (13.5 kWh) => 60 THB

BYD Atto 3 (PTT @7.9Baht) (13.5 kWh) => 107 THB

Geely Starray EM-i (3.8-4.3 L) => 140 - 160 THB

Nissan Kicks (4.3-4.8 L) => 160 - 180 THB

Honda HR-V e:HEV (3.9-4.3 L) => 144 - 160 THB

Toyota Fortuner 2.8 Diesel (1GD-FTV, 9L) => 300 THB

I even added a diesel on the list just for the Kicks of it :D

So picking these cars as example and using Gemini Pro for the logic and calculations, I got these values for the cost of 100km :

BYD Atto 3 (Home @4.4Baht) (13.5 kWh) => 60 THB

BYD Atto 3 (PTT @7.9Baht) (13.5 kWh) => 107 THB

Geely Starray EM-i (3.8-4.3 L) => 140 - 160 THB

Nissan Kicks (4.3-4.8 L) => 160 - 180 THB

Honda HR-V e:HEV (3.9-4.3 L) => 144 - 160 THB

Toyota Fortuner 2.8 Diesel (1GD-FTV, 9L) => 300 THB

I even added a diesel on the list just for the Kicks of it :D

Don't forget most REEVs can use E20 which is currently about 5 baht cheaper than Gasohol 95 (E10).

The interesting thing about Gasohol mixes, is they have a lower calorific value, so you have to correct for that in the cost.
