Agree, range is a bit disappointing. ECON with 25% more battery than our MG ZS, only 15% more range. Although, the RD6 does put out quite a bit mor hp & torque. Range itself, is still futher than my back, bladder or stomach range, which is further than the wife's or dog's, so not really an issue for us. Going 250 km (3 hrs) without stopping for us is very rare.

I think your 1/2 the NEDC estimate is a bit off.

As, again using our MG ZS, NEDC vs WLTP range, and it's 80% of NEDC, 403 vs 320, which we actually exceed 320 with mixed driving. In ECO mode, which provides plenty of power.

320 more accurate for highway driving, doing 90+ kph when possible, with average overall speeds of 70-80 kph, during any one leg of a journey.

But it looks like a pretty big step forward in terms of architecture. Rear-wheel steering up to 18 degrees is seriously impressive — around 60 cm less turning radius. Full spaceship style 😄

This is the important part:

'The new L6 also comes standard with a fully [drive] by-wire chassis, including Continental's MK C2 brake-by-wire system and by-wire four-wheel steering. The rear wheels can turn as much as 18 degrees in either direction, giving the vehicle a minimum turning radius of 4.39 meters.'

This is probably also the reason why it wont make it to Thailand anytime soon.

Today I got around to installing a dashcam in my SL7 AWD. Easy....took about an hour of me taking it slow since it was my first time. I watched the videos below to get smart on how to do the replacement. The camera included the camera and USB box....the USB box that comes from the factory with the SL7 does not have a microSD memory card slot....the box in the kit includes a memory card slot.

For a someone who has done this once before on their second try they could easily do the complete install in around 15 minutes if trying to go as fast as possible. Bottomline installing the the camera and USB box is pretty easy and quick. Once installed, start the car and then do a restart of the infotainment system and the DVD Dashcam app will then load in the Apps men....the app is already installed with the car's firmware/software but doesn't show in the App menu until a camera a dashcam is actually install....when a camera is detected the DashCam app appears.

Short video on how to replace USB box....only your finger tips are needed....the panel comes off pretty easily....pressing the tabs on the USB box to get it to come out of its holder takes some technique but not hard at all.

And here's a full video on how to install the camera and USB box. And there is no need to remove the small plastic piece of camera/rear view mirror cover which allows you to "completely" remove the camera cover as removing that "small piece" could take some effort...it wasn't coming off easy for me so I just left it installed which....the video at around the 2:08 minutes part talks this small piece. As mentioned, I left the small piece on as the camera cover drops low enough without removing the small piece allowing you to easily install the camera. A pair of "sharp nose" scissors will probably be needed to cut away the black tape holding/covering the camera connector and you may need to cut a plastic strap that hold the cabling to allow the cabling to reach/plug into the camera.

Emphasis on 'utility vehicle', as can you carry a work crew in it, and a bunch of tools to go out on a job. Maybe a roof rack and some more equipment, plus that ladder you're going to need.

Well, unfortunately today I uninstalled the dashcam camera & USB (took about 15 minutes) and returned it for a refund via Shopee....got a full refund to my bank acct within approx 10 minutes of dropping the return package off at J&T/Flash. I had originally paid via PromptPay and that's the way it was refunded. First refund I have had to with Shopee...went smooth as silk......but my Lazada returns have also been smooth as silk.

The reason I retuned the dashcam is on an "intermittent" basis it would stop recording....additionally, sometime the screen would just be black. I noticed this on day 2 after the install. Had to turn off and on the Sealion 7 for the dashcam to work properly. It might work properly for hours and hours OR it might not work from the get-go. Even tried three different microSD memory cards (8, 32, and 64GB...all top quality SanDisk cards brought from SanDisk Official Store on Lazada and all three cards had worked 100% when in smartphones)....trying various memory cards didn't help. I gave up after trying various things today to include the very, very few settings in the DVR app. Nothing helped.

So, removed the camera and USB box and reinstalled the original USB box that came with the car....took about 15 minutes. After putting one of these dashcams in once then subsequent installs/removals is a piece of cake.

Still debating with myself whether I should order another identical dashcam from another Shopee/Lazada vendor because maybe the dashcam was causing the problem OR maybe the dashcam "use" to be fully compatible with the Sealion 7 up until the last Sealion 7 OTA update of 3.2.0 which occurred about 1 to 2 months ago. Or said another way, the BYD DVR app in the infotainment system maybe just can't get along with this particular dashcam all the time.

Any of you SL7 owners got a recommendation from personal experience of a dashcam "that fits into the SL7 camera assembly on the windshield" just like it came from the factory that way and properly integrates with the BYD infotainment system DVR app?

I really don't want to install a separate, stand alone, splices into the electrical system, uses separate software type dashcam. Would like a dashcam that looks like it came installed from the factory.

Yea.. I was hoping that would be my problem but I tried 3 different quality cards that worked flawlessly in my smartphones...and one card, a Sandisk Ultra card, was "brand new" bought from the SanDisk Official Online store.

I wish I had tried only installing the camera and tried using the original factory box which does "not" have a microSD slot...see if just using a USB thumb drive in a USB port would have worked/worked better. But for whatever reason I didn't give that a try.

Right now my brain can't get out of the rabbit hole that the dashcam USB box with memory slot was defective. Or, maybe it was a defective camera. Or, maybe the camera/USB box is not fully compatible with the SL7 latest OTA.

I hope you guys are using High/Max Endurance SD cards, not the normal "high quality" cards like Sandisk Ultra.

if you use standard SD card, even thou they are very fast, U3, top card, it will fail in a few months, or weeks. They are not intended for continuous writing.

There are many types of SD cards, but the most popular are

Standard (TLC / QLC): Very fast for read, ideal for Phones, DSLR cameras, or devices that you write little but read a lot.

High & Max Endurance: for CCTV or continuous writing usage, often use MLC or heavy 3D TLC pSLC for the chips.

The problem is that prices are crazy lately because of memory Chip shortage, every memory chip is now going to AI packages or to EV controller boards in China.

A 64GB High Endurance are going for 1200 baht, a month ago it was 1500 baht, so prices might be going down.

It was just 400-500 baht 2 years ago. luckily I got many 64GB high endurance cards before for stock :)

If you used an old or already heavily written card used on another Dashcam before, what could have been the cause of your new camera going dark or shutdown might have been one of these, very likely: (all 3 points were taken from Gemini, but verify on your own)

1. High Write Amplification Factor (WAF) & Abrupt Power Loss: Dash cams continuously record small-block metadata and video index tables (FAT32/exFAT allocation table updates). Consumer card controllers lack firmware optimization for continuous streaming writes. Combined with sudden power cutoffs when turning off the ignition, the controller can suffer metadata corruption, forcing the card into permanent read-only lock regardless of remaining cell lifespan. 2. Hot-Parked Thermal Stress & Charge Leakage: Even if the car is only driven 30 minutes a day, if it sits parked in direct sun or high ambient heat, where regularly reach 60°C to 80°C, a standard TLC/QLC floating-gate NAND will suffer accelerated data retention loss (charge leakage) at elevated temperatures when left un-powered. 3. Unannounced Controller Lock: Consumer cards do not feature health-monitoring flags that communicate write-errors back to the camera. When a block fails, the card silently drops frames or corrupts the recording loop without triggering an error on the dash cam screen. (Gemini)

I have at least 50-60 High endurance deployed between all CCTVs and all the cars we have. They all last years and never failed me.

I learned the leason many years ago, that the normal cards would fail after weeks or few months.

Well isn’t this just the best news to wake to…
