I just returned from a trip to Hanoi in Vietnam.

2 things stood out. In the city centre, EV's were everywhere - possibly 25% or more cars in Hanoi are EV's. This is far higher than I see in Pattaya where I'd estimate the range in the 10-15%-ish range.

In Hanoi, the local brand Vinfast is dominating. Probably 3 out of every 4 EV's are Vinfast. I wonder if they have any plans to export to the world and if so, how competitive they would be vs China?

It occurs that in an era where ASEAN countries are competing for business, having the full stack from design to service is really an advantage as, over time some Vinfast staff would make themselves available to other brands.

The other thing that stood out was that the Geely brand, Lynk and Co were on sale in Vietnam but are not available in Thailand.

Geely is parent company of Lynk & Co, sold as, or will be, under the Zeekr brand in TH, instead of Lynk branding. Or so I read.
