I saw little kids carrying fireworks almost as big as themselves from SM mall in Santa Cruz, amazing.

On the stroke of midnite, in the local barangay of my bro inlaw.............

It was like a WW2 artillery barrage, fantastic sights and sounds.

NZ lets ya have fireworks, but ya have about 3 days a year before Goy Fawkes to but them.

NO bangers, NO rockets, just pretty stuffs..........<deleted>.

Among the firework-related injuries, a majority were found to be active users or have directly handled firecrackers while 19 percent were drunk or under influence of alcohol during the accident.

The victims of stray bullets were five males and one female. Three of the victims were hit while inside their home.

Personally, whilst I enjoy the fun, TOO MANY fall victim to misuse.

We had a debate in another sub-forum about whether you can get killed by a bullet fired vertically.

Basically a bullet fired directly up runs out of energy and then falls back to earth under the influence of gravity. A handgun bullet generally will weigh under ten grams and it's shape ensures a tumbelling motion as it drops. It will reach terminal velocity, but the debate centered around if this small object could then cause fatal wounds. It would be just like a small oblong rock falling from a tall building. My thoughts are that it would cause a nasty head injury, but wouldn't penetrate the skull bone.

As stated it has been proven (by no less an authority than the "Myth Busters" ) that bullets tend to fall with a tumbelling motion and only reach terminal velocity when falling back to earth.

Here's a solution to all the controversy over full-body scanners at the airports:

All we need to do is develop a booth that you can step into that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have hidden on or in your body. The explosion will be contained within the

sealed booth.

This would be a win-win for everyone. There would be none of this crap about racial profiling and the device would eliminate long and expensive trials.
