THE Right Brain vs Left Brain test ... do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?

If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.

Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

It was clockwise for me and try as I might she would not go the other way, but I did get her to pause a little. I thought it was interesting enough to share let me know how you get on!

Clockwise for me and the wife too.

Maybe you should do a poll?

Anti-clock 100% and the left brain functions list describe down to a T.

Clockwise for me and the wife too.

Maybe you should do a poll?

My daughter is also clock, yet she is a brilliant mathematician and has a first class degree in computer science, and thinks that the left brain functions are far more appropriate for her.

Doesn't make much sense! :o

Hmmmm I wonder if this is just more rubbish, I will look into the file and see if it even has a counter close wise animation.

Edit, right I opened it up in Adobe Image ready and played the .gif backwards frame by frame and at first it went predictably counter clockwise, but after a while, to my considerable surprise, it actually started to look as though it was moving clockwise again. Try it.

So it seems to be an optical illusion just as they claim.

I can quite happily switch from one to the other at will ........ what does that signify?

Anti for me, but it changed fairly easy with concentration.

she moves ?

if i close my eyes for 5 seconds can get her to turn both ways ...

Both my daughter and I can now get the dancers to turn both ways - almost at will. We just look at the shadow and the dancer turns the other way.

Maybe that means that both sides of our brain work :D

Or that the test is a bit of nonsense - even if it was in the Daily telegraph :o

Counter clockwise for me initially, but I tried the shadow trick and she went to clockwise.

left brain with a touch of right brain or perhaps too much brain :o

I can quite happily switch from one to the other at will ........ what does that signify?

successful lobotomy.....as we all suspected! :o

clockwise for me..and yes, the description fits on me!

Yes I used the same trick and can now do the same

I'll get back to my knitting :D

Can i ask where you obtained this from? would like to know who put this together and what their research methods are as the basis.

'Drawing on the Right Side of The Brain' was the theory i worked mostly with in my Iife drawing cIasses (yet I am no expert in this theory), and a recommend read for my more interested students. Our right side is our creative side.

I see the figure dance anti-clockwise. Hmm.

EDIT: WOW..ok shes NOW spinning clockwise! Haha! brilliant!

( i entered my vote as anti-clockwise ..its now 'both'. apologies.)

Maybe that suggests when i first see form im analytical and then after observation I view things more freely...which i suppose given my background would be normal..? Interesting experiment.

I can quite happily switch from one to the other at will ........ what does that signify?

Ah but can you get her to stand on her head :D

Anti-clockwise for me (on her head) can't get her to go the other way though :o

im trying to see her anti-clockwise again but atm cannot. Its impressive that you can engage your left and right brain like the flip of a switch (or crazy..i duno!) I get the feeling if i come back later i will see her spin anti at first again..followed by clockwise. But snapping back and forth..i don't seem to be able to do this. would be great to train myself to do so. V cool.

EDIT: CRACKED IT!! Can switch at will! :o

If I concentrate on the dancer she is rotating anti-clockwise but if i concentrate on the shadow it's clockwise.

Bunkum methinks. :o

Clockwise at first, then noticed anti, so voted 'both'. However, I now cannot get her anti again!

but if i concentrate on the shadow it's clockwise.

OMG, yeah. And now i can't get her to go back anti-clockwise.

She's still on her head though :o

Hmm my problem is once I get her spinning one way, I cant get her to change direction... grrrr

edit - I did it once, now to expand on that..

edit 2. haha got it switching at will, very odd just like throwing a switch, i find it helps if i blink

Eek, I have no idea what the research is behind all of this just got it from a friend who noticed it in the Herald Sun's website (a newspaper).

I can quite happily switch from one to the other at will ........ what does that signify?

I do the same - it will spin in one direction and then I just flick it the other direction then back again.

CB

Looked at it a few times. I can now get it to flick back and forth at will! Go 'gossy eyed' looking at it for too long!

Yep, I was a 'clockwise, can't make it change' man until I tried the shadow trick, then she wouldn't go clockwise again, grrrrrrr.

My head hurts :o

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Clockwise, clockwise, and clockwise. I don't wanna go counter; perfectly happy as a right brain person.... :o

Clockwise, clockwise, and clockwise. I don't wanna go counter; perfectly happy as a right brain person.... :o

Yeah, me too! But you should try to develop the 'weaker' side and be more a whole brain person!

c/w for me. The description fits pretty good too.

A fantasy based imaginitive emotional dipstick.

can't get anti.
