What happens if I drive FASTER than the speed of light - and turn the headlights on ?

You cant drive faster than the speed of light (c) as that would break the rules of special relativity, although if you are traveling at the speed of light it may be possible under certain conditions (in a Casimir vacuum or via quantum tunneling) to speed up the light emitted from your headlamps to faster than c.

10 out of 10 for sating the bleedin' obvious. :o

Did you know that searing meat before baking does not seal the juices in? Test were done by baking meat with and without searing....if a piece of meat loses juices then it will weight less....you would expect the seared meat to lose less juice so it should weight more after baking....the results......its all the same.....searing had no effect on how much juice was lost during baking...at least in that experiment....your meat may vary.

This is true, many tests have been done. Searing simply starts the cooking process!

One for Chownah, did you know that the British call Tail Lights, Brake Lights?

Also, can anyone confirm this? The size of the moon and the distance from the Earth is in direct relationship with the size of the sun and distance from the Earth?

tuky, I thought that the moon is gradually drifting ever further away from us, bad news for our descendants as when it is no longer held in orbit, the earth slip off its axis and all sorts of strange things will happen to the weather and tectonic activity.

In the US they have tail lights AND they have brake lights. Brake lights only come on when you apply the brakes. The tail lights only come on when you turn on the headlights. I'm sure you've got both these on British cars too....so which ones are you refering to and what do you call the other ones?

As to the size and distance thing there is an unusual coincidence with them but I think you've said it wrong.

Yes we have "Brake" lights and we just call the other one's "rear" or "back" lights. Well i do anyway :o

Here's one to think about.........

A female ferret can die if she goes into heat and cannot find a mate.

Yeah, there is an unusual coincidence but you are right I have said it wrong, does anyone know the coincidence is? but there definately is a ratio coincidence as far as I remember.

I am not British myself so cannot confirm but in Aust. we have brake lights, tail lights (park lights), reverse lights and ofcourse indicators, there is also a legal requirement for a light on or above the number plate.

Just out of interest Chownah, as I am sure you do not know this (tongue in cheek) but all these lights are located (normally) under the boot, not under the trunk, as a trunk is something you might put into the boot :o

If we could apply this to humans, we'd solve the population crisis. :o

The Distance from the Earth to the Sun divided by the size of the Sun is the same as the Distance from the Earth to the Moon divided by the size of the Moon.......very nearly. That is why they both look the same size in the sky.

Thanks mate, I knew there was a really odd coincidence regarding that.

You couldn't design it any better could you? but presumably it is a freak of nature that it worked out that way, what a buzz.

Yeah...it makes for spectacular total solar eclipses. I don't get very excited about lunar eclipses and in fact could easily fall asleep in the middle of one (they do always happen late at nite you know). Once I had a chance to see a total solar eclipse a days travel from where I lived. Being a hippie at the time all my friends planned a two day journey to go experience the "cosmic" event. I wasn't all that hot on the eclipse but decided to go along for the party. To make a long story shorter the eclipse was way more spectacular than I had ever imagined and it was well worth a days journey or more to see a total eclipse....really spectacular. Partial solar eclipses are not even 1% as impressive as a total eclipse at least for me.

A female ferret can die if she goes into heat and cannot find a mate.

:o

This is not just limited to ferrets but also martins, weasels, stoats etc. The syndrome is caused by a hormone called a lutenizing hormone (LH) which stimulates the ovaries to produce and realease the eggs Estrogen is then released which brings around changes in her internal and external reproductive organs. It causes an increase in the size of her vulva and the amount of mucus discharge from it. The estrogen increases her body temperature quite dramatically and if she is left unmated for prolonged periods of time she can die of heat stress. The vulva is also prone to infection and that is commonly the reason she will die.
