Evaluate My Photo

Took this through the open window at the back of the boy's house as I was passing by. I saw the light quality and I just had to take the shot. Had to shoot on auto because my guide was alrerady way ahead on the trail and did not know I had stopped - no time for settings. Image reduced for web

Composition is great, but screaming out for a bit of fill-in-flash.

I hope this works...this is my first photo upload. I used photoshop CS3 on the photo. Does it look noticeably better ??

For speed I used the Raw menu on the jpeg and it seems OK. any comments ???

I guess you have to see it in print, it holds together just fine. The shot was for an article on the poverty in rural Nepal. It is meant to be a bit disturbing.

It is sometimes important to understand the purpose of a photo if one wants to judge its effectiveness. I should have mentioned it.

I much prefer the first one, the light on the edge of the child, dark mysterious look about it.

The harsh contrast of the original works very well in the context of documenting poverty.

A bit of shadows/highlights in Photoshop brings out more details in the dirt floor.

Yes, that is quite good, Thank you.

I will do similar to the original.

Great Shot "canuckamuck", still like the first one.
