Dont feel sorry for the abo's, they are getting Perth back and some new sacred site in tasmania where they...allegedly....fell by accident of some cliff face.

But even they are proud to be aussie...where else can you sit around all day in the glorious sunshine and get paid for it.

Everyone loves to be australian and everyone who is not, is a wannabe one....even secretly...

That was a long time ago....still in development....today we have matured into a nation of sophistication and pride of achievement in being on top of the heap.

Explains why I left the place and came to live here :bah:

CB

Well spoken ol' chap. Spoken like a true Patriot to the Queen! :o:bah:

It is a burden we will have to live with.

Good Better Best......I need therapy regulalry just to cope with the pressure from outsiders wanting in....pretending to be mates, to be cool, can say g'day and cobber, so many wannabe's so little time.

Hi Donz, welcome back...er.........mate. :D

Good idea...an evolving thread into a glorious photo thread of a glorious country full of glorious people.

There's an airport on Mars now? Cool.

Have to pack a lot of beer & chips though - 25 year flight time! :o

Which plonker in Australia invented Rolf Harris ?

" Two Little Boys " .......has been top of the Belgian charts for over thirty years !!

Even the sprout heads are fed up of him.

Nice snaps, Soundman :o

Any more you can share with us?

Think that says more about belgians than aussies.

Shit, I'm replying & forgotten what I was going to write about. Anyway, ---- Williamstown. I fell off the wharf there whilst drinking beer.

And the seawater was stronger than the canned p1ss that caused you to fall off!

But at least it wasn't Steinlager - which is the Kiwi excuse for being a Kiwi.

Aaaahhhhhh - Marston Pedigree - nectar of the gods. Theakstones Old Peculiar. Old Hookey from Oxford. Smiles Exhibition from Bristol. And a thousand other thirst quenchers that I cannot find in Sandland.

It must be horrible being australian... Being so inferior... Having that complex about it....

Constantly having to tell people - Nay! Convince people - how great you think you are....

I'm so glad I'm from a nation that people know is great, and produces great people. :o

I got no fuken complex mate. What is that? A rash of some bluddy kind? What kind of style is inferior? Another word for VB singlet and blue footy shorts that do their best to cut off the circulation in your balls? Great, who fuc_ken cares? Rugby, cricket, lawn bowls - we are the fricken best! :o:D

Funny how the 'wannabe's' even try to steal the greatest thread full of the greatest people from the greatest country.... :o

Too scared to start their own thread on their mediocre country cos nobody will take it seriously... :D

Its ok, we will let you come in here and feel what its like to be Outstanding.

Dont feel sorry for the abo's, they are getting Perth back and some new sacred site in tasmania where they...allegedly....fell by accident of some cliff face.

I thought all the Taswegian Abos were shot and killed a few years ago?

Anyway, Abo, Chink, Paki, Viet, etc etc is only skin colour and looks. The real way to tell an AUssie (no matter what skin colour) is attitude.

I am in Perth at the moment and I can't understand for a second why trading hours have not be deregulated. Come 6pm in Perth and everything is closed, SUnday the only place open is the city itself and that is only from 1pm onwards. Try and get a taxi if you have been at the Pub and you will soon realise that you are better off drinking at home.

Give me Thailand with it's 2-5pm and election beer sale laws anyday.

However, I had a few ales with my old uncle tonight. He is your quintessential Aussie Farmer and I found myself slipping back into my old Occa accent. When I was 19 I worked for him in his shearing team as a roustie, when I was kid he owned a sheep station out of Mount Magnet and I spent many many months out there with him (he had only 4 daughters, he wanted a son), He played league footy for the Cardinals with Polly (Sandgropers will know what I mean) and was a darts champ. WHat a <deleted> hero this guys was, but to have a chat with hionm tonight I hardly understand his bush accent.

ANyway, I love this sunburnt country...

Actually, if any of you wanted to know what it is like to be an Aussie go to Hellfire Pass at dawn on the 25th of April...

That is what being an Aussie means.

I dare you not to shed a tear or two...

Sigh... Ok.. Tuky makes some fair points... But Soundman!!! Squiglles!!! You two honestly do set yourselves up for a fall... There I was, just a few posts ago saying how sad I thought it was that you have to try convinving people of your supposed greatness (:o ) and what's the first thing you two do... boast about how great you think your country is!

Geeez....do we have any medicine to cure this insecurity problem some wannabes have ???

The really sad thing is....no convinving !! required. The important ones already know, the others just have to live with the facts....oh the pain of being so great is a burden we are born with.

Ok.. that said "convincing" not convivning,,,,,Some ozzie moderator probably put that typo in there :o

Which plonker in Australia invented Rolf Harris ?

Rolf Harris may have been born in Australia, but he has lived and had a show business career in England for the last 48 years!

You Brits nurtured him, he's yours. :o

Shit, I'm replying & forgotten what I was going to write about. Anyway, ---- Williamstown. I fell off the wharf there whilst drinking beer.

Aaaahhhhhh - Marston Pedigree - nectar of the gods. Theakstones Old Peculiar. Old Hookey from Oxford. Smiles Exhibition from Bristol. And a thousand other thirst quenchers that I cannot find in Sandland.

Some Brits are always quick to make judgement without full knowledge of the facts.

You pop into Sydney for a two week stay once in your lives, have a VB or Tooheys at the nearest pub, and declare yourselves experts on Australian beer! :o

On the world stage, and in competition, Oz beer stands head and shoulders above British versions.

I'll agree, VB is crap and generally only drunk by bogans (look it up). But it is not representative of all beers in the country.

Until you've tried a decent sample of the beers listed below you are not an expert on the product. :D

Great list OC. Lends a new meaning to having a glass of piss (when that's the brand on the bottle). Must admit (despite being an Oz) that my pref is for a Tiger. High up on the list are Carlsberg/Tuborg, Singha (now that they've sensibly knocked it back to 5%), and many of the German pale lager-style beers (such as Löwenbräu). Even the Japanese beer is better than most Aussie beers. My preferred Oz beer is Toohey's Red (bottled - no longer on tap). But is also depends on how I feel at the time - eg a pint of Guinness goes down a treat on the odd occasion.

Beer drinking is, of course, very much a matter of individual taste; one man's cat's piss is another man's nectar. People often tend to become accustomed to a certain style and taste of beer. I suppose I got converted from the tasteless Aussie CUB products when I spent a bit of time in Europe as a young bloke.

Hang on - what have I said? Why are all these villagers in footy shorts and singlets chasing me with pitchforks?

What the frick is a great big wooly woofter? English version of the incredible ape?

Sounds to me like some sort of device that the good old boys use to clean their shoes between Benny Hill re-runs, retakes of Neighbour's cos no one is interested in what is happening in Notting Hill, & imported curry farts that wake up everyone in the neighbourhood bar the perpetrator.

Only one thing more rank that an English curry fart is an Italian Bolognaser from an old man with ulcers. Guess you guys just can't handle anything spicy. Hate to be around when you eat curried clams.

And let me tell you all this.... How can the poms claim anything is great? The sun never shines on you guys. You lose by default. Poor locality. You should try building hydrogenation plants. I can see the headlines now. Another Englishman painted himself into the corner. What about peas and carrots? No. Please sir, I want some more.

No siree. Gimme a VB, ford V8 with fat tyres & no exhaust pipe, let me go to Broadmeadows to enhance my boganation skills and mullet growing capabilty, the location of the local doll office & Bob's your uncle.

That's all I have to say on the matter.

PS. Aussies are the best. ........ . ... .... .... . :D and havva coldie!

PPS. Had to remove all the little Englismen rolling on the floor laughing because this board's software didn't find it very funny. :D

BTW: (and I'm not sure you'll understand this - reflection on the level of education in your country- not you personally) but you don't have to add HTML colour tags to every sentence... once at the beginning and once at the end. They won't interfere with the colour of the smilies.

Fair point, as a convict I didn't have access to your fancy book learnings. This was a case of laziness rather than ignorance. My use of your cloak of invisibility didn't work first go (using your suggested technique albeit sloppily) so quick and messy edit with colour tags for all and sundry was warranted.

Anyway.... now NOT so great to be an Aussie (or at least not so great to be in Oz). I was on the Ferry last week in Sydney taking a leisurely cruise from the city to Manly when I saw an old workmate. He was on the rear deck having an after work beer with about 25 other ferry patrons. Apparently it is a nightly occurrence for many of the patrons. My mate offered me a beer, which I gladly accepted. 15 minutes later, as we approached Manly wharf, a couple of blokes stood up and produced badges proclaiming that they were police. Apparently, no alcohol consumption is allowed on board. Every single one of us was fined $300 dollars. Grrrrr! That's bit bloody steep if you ask me!

Yes or no if i have tried them or not.
