Opinion On Serviced Apt

Featured Replies

Do you know anything about Grand President serviced apts? Online price is 35k/month for a studio. Is that priced about right or would it be better to find a place after I'm there? I'd prefer less expensive but would like something comfortable.

Could you please be more specific regarding in which area of Bangkok you prefer to live and which facilities you are looking for in serviced apartment complexes? Price ranges very much depend on the area in which you wish to live. If you want to be smack in the middle of Sukhumvit, you could wind up paying 30-35k/month for a box. On the other hand if you for example choose to live close to Don Mueang (app. 40 mins. from Sukhumvit) or one of the outer stations on the BTS/Metro, you could get a house 200-250 sqm. for 25.000-35.000. Or you could get a 2-3 bedroom apartment for the same price or less than the studio you looked at.

Looking for apartments/serviced apartments can be a bit dicey at times. It occurs that the "rooms" may be privately owned and if you arrange the deal outside of the agent/sales rep. and handle it directly with the owner, you may save as much as 20-40% (I have even seen 50% less than published rates) a month on the rent.

In many instances it can be cheaper for you to rent an (fully furnished/partly furnished/unfurnished) apartment and locating a maid service instead. But you may have your reasons for seeking serviced apartments?

Unless you know Bangkok I would say wait until you arrive so you can check the various areas of town before deciding where to live.

All the President apts are dated and not particularly nice when compared to the alternatives and the cost. You would be better off to stay in an inexpensive hotel for a couple of weeks whilst looking around in person once you are on the ground.
