Envy, jealous or disgust ? :o

post-13995-1221899869_thumb.jpg

LaoPo

If that is not 'photoshopped' - then I'd say 'interested'.

There doesn't seem to be any disapproval in their stance and the surroundings look more Western than Mid-Eastern.

I have many Arab friends who travel a lot - wives with English or German driving licences, but when back in Saudi or the Emirates they almost all say that they're happier in the abbaya and most have drivers to take them wherever they want to go - so it's more 'adapt to the local culture' than 'impose your culture on others'. But then most of my friends are well-travelled and not inhibited by the opinions of those seeking to drag them back 1,000 years.

Is it the 'W' word? Some years ago there was a show in Ireland which made a big play on the politician offering a 'job' but not work! :o

I know the word 'Tai' in some Chinese means North or Northern.

And in Thai means 'South'

Cot it backwards again!

This guy was pictured in the middle of Darwin at 3.30pm yesterday. The keys were in the ignition and he had a stubby (beer) between his legs.

At least he was wearing his seatbelt.

They have some unusual pets in Far North Queensland.

The web is extremely strong and the finch couldn't disentangle itself.

Quite a meal for the spider.

Glad you clarified that - I was beginning to think the guy was semi-emasculated.

Only allowed to take out one bottle after hours?

1. In February 2006, as part of a review of liquor supply restrictions in Tennant Creek and Threeways, the Threeways Roadhouse was advised of proposed changes to its liquor licence pursuant to Section 33 of the Liquor Act.

The proposed changes were as follows: Takeaway

1) With the exception of bush orders, takeaway sales of liquor shall only be allowed during the following hours:

a. On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – from 14:00 hours to 20:00 hours only;

b. On Friday - from 14:00 hours to 21:00 hours only;

c. On Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays - from 12:00 hours to 21:00 hours only;

d. No trading on Good Friday and Christmas Day.

2) With the exception of wine in casks and Darwin Stubby Souvenir packs takeaway sales of liquor of any type being sold or supplied in a container larger than one (1) litre is prohibited.

3) Wine in casks cannot be sold or supplied in containers larger than two (2) litres.

Unfortunately there is tougher drinking regulations in the outback than in Bangkok. Got something to do with the locals I think.

I was looking for a photo of a Smiles Exhibition box of ale, when I ran across this list of contents of the Cambridge Beer Festival entries.

I wonder why I loke the place?

Ahh right so they should call it an ailing festival not a beer festival

And yes all silliness aside there are some great ales, stouts, porters, and beers in that list

CB

Aha .... I've been getting it wrong for so long ...... It's a Holden Shower.

Yes, real photos.

The web is extremely strong and the finch couldn't disentangle itself.

Quite a meal for the spider.

I hate the <deleted> things, I'm not arachnophobia but walking into a Golden Orb Weaver's web in the dark is NOT funny.

They string them for miles across the gardens.

Arachnaphobia is an irrational fear of spiders - there's nothing irrational about a fear of those buggers!!!

Now I never knew all spiders were buggers ?

Poor attention span CB - Victoria Bitter was very near the end.

Cambridge is a nice place to live - there's all the students, so the average age is right for the entertament businesses to flourish.

There's a folk festival evry July/August just outside my back garden, there's the Strawberry Fair, the opening day of the crickeet season, street markets, several pedestrian precincts around the town, boating on the Cam, all the old university buildings, a flourishing science-based industry backed by the university, so on.

Taking the family back next year for me mum's hundredth birthday. (Provided she makes it that far). Must be the ale :o

post-18822-1225203031_thumb.jpg

I thought this was an amazing natural feature I found on Google Earth. It looks like a baby bird that has fallen from it's nest (a volcano).

Can't say where it is yet as I've just posted it in the "whats this place "thread, :o

Arachnaphobia is an irrational fear of spiders - there's nothing irrational about a fear of those buggers!!!

That is not Arachnophobia, it is simply Alienation, because that bugger is no spider, it's Sigourney Weavers Mate :o

They don't get 'em in Thailand do they?

Because I am arachnaphobic

In the mountains of North Thailand we get bird eating spiders. They build their web across a trail and catch whatever runs into it. For size definition - consider a bread plate with the tips of the legs reaching the edge and the body in the middle. There are also ground spiders found in sandy soil. They are common in Isaan and Laos. In Cambodia they are still a common food item. The body is the size of a wallnut shell with legs attached. They are usually tossed onto a hot plate or directly into the coals. The legs are crunchy but the body is full of a brown smelly liquid that tastes aweful. Oddly the spiders taste nothing like chicken.

bon appetite

Just thinking it MAY be on you can do wonders for the heart rate.

When I lived in Adelaide we had palms in the garden and a smaller variety, only a mere 80mm/3 inches across, would happily set their nets across the garden.

In the end I got rid of the palms and planted less spider friendly varieties. They like those ones that shoot up from the base.
