Another one that I miss is farangsay

A while ago Farangsay pmed me to say he'd be off the board for a while but would be back so not to start a 'Where's faransay' thread! But that is a long time ago. Wonder where he is?

Last Seen: 2008-01-30 according to his profile. Nearly 3 months? A long time for such a regular poster!

Of late, some posters have found that they prefer to post in other, different forums for various reasons and of course that is their privilege. Many of us post in more than one place.

However, some of these people, not all, feel that to fit in with their new crowd, they need to throw insults and mud at TV, particularly Bedlam and some of the posters and mods in here. I have access to the members area of that other place and am aware of a lot of the rubbish posted there.

Some have deliberately got themselves banned from here and others take different routes involving permanent separation. If that's what they think they have to do to fit in over there, I only feel sorry for them.

But, what gets my goat, are attempts here to turn former posters, who have taken this latter path, into legends, Grand Poobahs, etc .

If people have taken another path and feel the need to shit on their former haven, then we should not be trying to honour them here .

Just my opinion.

I agree with you old croc, not all the people who no longer post here were banned or even had issues with tv prior to following other less savoury characters to those other places. Up to them innit.

I am trying to recall where I put my first post in TV, or in Bedlam first time.

I found Bedlam when changing from Phuket to another.

Obviously I had enuff posts, neva even realised at the time 500 were required.

The name appealed to me, Bedlam, sounded my style.

Bedlam's a great name - for that is what it is!

Rite OC, just ignore them, replying feeds their egos.

Yes, Ping. This post has probably already been reproduced over there. (about the fourth time for one of mine. ) There are several sad little people who lurk here just so they can report back there, to boost their standing. If that's their thing I only feel pity.

The point of my post is: when people have made a decision to go elsewhere and feel the need to sling crap at us, why venerate them here as long lost buddies?

Perhaps I should illustrate my point by putting some of their rubbish posts here.

You're starting to look just as obsessed as the the people you appear to hate, only in the opposite direction. It's very weird the behaviour of some people, it's only a forum after all.

That's a good point, it is just a forum. It's not going to bring world peace! Nor should it aspire to!

Well that's quite true, but I think that OC's points are valid nonethless. I've said it there and I'll repeat it here - there's room for both forums, because in a sense, the markets are slightly different. I happen to prefer it here, because I'm generally supportive of the way it's moderated. I am also happy with the fact that I can't go into the reasons for that - it's all a part of the package and has a great deal to do with having shaped TV into its current successful format. There are people who prefer a more freely moderated forum - that's fine, but the outcome of that approach has shaped that forum to cater for a slightly different market. So be it.

E: I should add that most of us miss some of the people we have lost, but you do need to note OC's second paragraph, because if anything, he understates some of the things that have gone on over there; but we're not about to start playing that game here (otherwise we'll probably end up over there!)

I had a look at the other forum not long time ago, also triggeredby something that I read in here.

I was less than impressed by what former and existing members posted there about TV and Bedlam in special. Had the feeling that the banned members where missing the "good old bedlam days" and tried to re-inact something over there, fuelled by spies who copy/paste posts out ofbedlam over there and wonder afterwards why they got banned.

Thanks for the support Ping, but I could be a little obsessed at times.

I know they're only forums but they keep me amused for an inordinate amount of my time. (and now I'll have to work out who Mad Jake is over there. )

^^ Just calling it the way I see it, OC. You want to avoid that handbag conversion though - you'll end up being declared a prohibited import.

From reading here you would think that all that ever goes on over there is somehow related to slagging off TV, that is not the case at all. Yes there is the odd thread started by someone who has probably just been banned from here, most of the other members find those ones insanely boring though. Other than that there are a lot of good threads as well, take a look at some of the food threads and restaurant reviews, it's not all doom and gloom .
