i'm a canadian woman married to a thai man. we have a baby who was born in canada and has all his canadian documentaion with a hyphenated last name. we went to the thai embassy in ottawa to get a thai birth certificate so he has dual citizenship. the woman in the office told us it was against thai law to have a hyphenated name and she couldnt accept the current documentaion to register his birth certificate and that we would have to get everything changed. we chose to hyphenate our baby's name for a reason and dont want to change it. also, we leave for thailand in a month and half and dont have time to change everything even if we wanted to. does anyone know if this is true? or any thai/farang children with hyphenated names?
