hi all hoping you may be able to help me out

i live here in hua hin but next week have got a few friends [male and female] coming over and am planning to meet upwith them for a night in bangkok

normally when i head to bangkok i end up in the usual haunts [nana cowboy etc]

am looking for a area where the music is good [dance etc] and it's not so bar girl orianteded

don't mind a few freelancers about but want to show my friends more than the usual haunts [the what's your name, where you come from routine]

we are all in our 30s by the way if that helps

just a nice area with bars within walking distance

any suggestions?

I'd take them to Khao San Road or RCA. Lots of bars and clubs in both those areas, you can walk around and choose which one. RCA is mainly Thai people but no problem for farang to go there, just don't wear shorts and sandals or they won't let you in.

Ratachada Soi 4 would be another option. A large Thai bar complex with about 15 or 20 different places. Some have live music. I rarely see any other farang whenever I go there.

Try 'The Tunnel'

Langsuarn Soi 5

It is a nightclub, but well decked out, good drinks, good service, great DJ's. Better later in the evening.

RCA as mentioned by DP25 also good for an area with lots of good bars/pubs...

RCA = Royal City Avenue, a 2.5km stretch between New Petburi Road and Rama IX (parallel and sandwiched between them) Not far from Rama IX subway station
