The Homeless Are Here......

Featured Replies

I guess there have been some write ups on homeless westerners living in Bangkok.

Saw one western lady outside Tony Roma's on a piece of card board, looked like she had been hit by a car ( except for the " i am a drifter" bag she had with her ). After asking a few thai's standing around her, seems she is a regular drunk, and the locals seemed to know her.

Turned the soi into suk soi 5 (food land), and there was another half legless falang , again very clearly homeless sloping around.

Some times see other at BTS stations.

Never really noticed them before ( or maybe i walk more now :o ), but there seems to be one every km. now on early sukhumvit.

The cops must know, and i am surprised they would leave illegal western aliens loitering ( or maybe there is nothing to extort from them, and as such, no interest)

I have to agree. Never saw them in many trips, or at least did not pay attention. But I'm walking in Silom and Sathorn and seeing them, no where near Sukhumvit. I saw a guy leaning against a utility box that looked like he has been hit by a car as well. Bloodied bandage over one eye. This is an odd change.

Many of the people begging around the tourist areas are actually "run" by organized crime syndicates. I wouldn't be surprised if these syndicates weren't importing westerners to add a different appeal to western tourists.
