Proper Sunglasses

Featured Replies

Am looking to buy a proper/genuine pair of sunglasses (ie not the fake ones)....does anyone know if these are cheaper in Bangkok than London (as they all seem to be £150 upwards here in Blighty?

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy near Sukhumvit?

Many thanks

what make and model are you looking for?

you can buy genuine ray bans here for about 4000 baht, depending on the model.

I have just ordered a pair of Ray-bans with optical lens for 6203 baht.

Of course how do I know I will be getting the real thing? Maybe they will switch the frame when they fit the lens?

If you go to Paragon,Emporium,Gaysorn malls etc... you'll get the real deal.

Buy Duty Free at an airport, any airport, cheaper than either UK or Thailand

Sorry, I disagree.

There are plenty of optical shops in Thailand that sell originals cheaper than Duty Free shops.

All my shades are In-flight Duty Free. Silhouettes, Rays, Pumas, etc...

Good place to buy is Optics 88 usually located near a City Chain ( watch shop) outlet all over the country and region. They have good brands, great prices and service is excellent. Used them for years, but seldom get to shop except duty free anymore. :o

:D

Personally, I go tothe Mom and Pop optical shops. I like to give the small guys my business and they will negotiate price

I bought my latest pair of Oakley M Frames in Bangkok - could have bought them cheaper off the internet from UK websites. If you're still interested you can buy them from any of the shopping malls, or indeed any opticians, as they all seem to stock at least one brand name.

Are these places like M*bun Kro*ng?

No not really :o These are high end shopping malls, think genuine Gucci, Prada etc.

You have to be really careful, though. The staff there likes to find identical copies and sell them as originals. I've once seen a pair of the most disgusting copies of Armani in their shop in Paragon.

If you want the genuine article nothing is cheaper in Thailand. Their tax rates are off the planet.
