We Are Still Animals

Featured Replies

Interesting thread this. I thought it was going to be about something else! Like what separates us fom the animals, so allow me to go there. Whilst I believe we are animals I think we have within us something which is illustrated in a thread like this, the capacity for abstract thought. We can discuss whether we are animals and if so what makes it so! Wonderful!

Re shagging in the back seat of a car, you'd want to try it in a 2CV!?!? :D

Well, ahem, my daughter was concieved in the back of a 2CV back in '92. :o

Did you by any chance call her Diane?

I have a brother called Mark II ..... I think I have just worked out why.

My 2CV was a Diane too! I wonder how many people remember that? It was slightly 'posher'! Had a clock and an ashtray!:D

The Dyane and the 2CV were two distinct models. Well, same chassis, engine etc, but different bodies. The Dyane was supposed to replace the Deux Cheveux but was discontinued years before the 2CV finally bit the dust. Had one for about 5 years and it was great fun. We used to take it to Brittany for camping holidays. Hang-on, the car took us... :D

Didn't they make a soft top version called a Benny?

Never heard of a Benny. All 2CVs had soft tops though!

Didn't they make a soft top version called a Benny?

There was a "jeep-like" version called the Mahari. There was also a soft-top by the citroen importer/assembler in Slough called a Bijou.

Ah, now I remember!

Ah, we've gone from a discussion of strange shag sites to automobiles. Yep, they go hand in hand, I suppose. In Oz, vehicles called "panel vans" used to be the favourite acquisition for young blokes in my day - also called "shaggin' wagons", for obvious reasons...

Wow, never have seen that car. Who made this.

I too would be interested in knowing the make.

That one is a 1975 Holden 'HZ' Panel Van. The one below is a 2003 model. The one below is not really a genuine panel van, rather a ute (utility vehicle, a bit like an American pickup) with a canopy. Holden was an independent Australian motor builder commencing manufacture in 1948, but quickly became a subsidiary of General Motors, and the vehicles these days are blood relatives to the German Opel vehicles. Ford (Australia) also made panel vans. If you want to see more, Google images Holden Panel Van (or similar).

Whao, that is pretty slick looking.

Ah, my classic car knowledge didn't let me down. I thought it was a Holden!

Well picked - I wouldn't have thought you would have seen too many of them (Holdens)?

I take this car never made it to America? It sounds like it has been around for awhile.

It's a GM company so you probably have a US version.

I can't think of an American car that looks anything like that.

  • 2 weeks later...
I was closing down the store the other night. Two cars pull up and park close to mine, one on either side really. Well, when the guy I was working with and I left we find both cars running, only one was empty and the other had two people in the backseat trying to cover themsleves with the coats while they continued to bump fuzzies, like we really weren't there. :o

Well, we can see this people well enough, not kids okay. These people were my age or better most likely. Considering that the store I work at is in one of those American dream suburbs where whiet people buy homes they can't afford and have trophy families to cover their desks at their meaningless jobs. So, these two adults were %^%$ing in this car because the spouses at home check credit card bills and someone is at both houses.

I can only shake my head, we really aren't that far from the trees are we? Screwing in the streets, more or less, with no self control and no shame. I am not sure what question I am asking here or where this threas might go, but I thought I'd share this experience I was forced to share when I tried to get in my car.

:D

mankind lost the capability doing it in the trees. some people do it in cars to shock bigots like you :D thanks for sharing that interesting experience :D

In between tree roots in a forest, yes, but not actually on a tree!

Was there anyone else there with you? :o

Nope. Kind of like Ford owning Volvo. Or BMW owning the Mini Cooper brand. No Ford version of the Volvos. No BMW version of the Mini. Maybe share some engine parts, or transmission, but no direct version of it.
