I've been here in Chiang Mai on a Type O retirement visa for a year and a half. A "pension letter" hasn't been asked of me since my 1st application. I report every nintey days - I've even filed a day late on two occasions!

I take a shower twice a day. I wear the clothes of a distiguished gentleman and am probably the most handsome 60 year-old expate that you'll ever see. (Ofcourse, I do not expect any of you to believe this last part, however true.) Good luck to all.

It is normal not to be asked for a “pension letter” when applying for an extension of stay for the reason of retirement.

If you apply based on foreign-earned income, you are asked for an embassy letter, ie a statement of your income on which your embassy certifies your signature.

If you apply based on 800,000 Baht in the bank, you are asked for evidence of that amount in a Thai bank account.
