Penang Visa Run

Featured Replies

Anybody have any advice regarding this visa run, what documents do I need to bring (apart from my Passport :o ) what is roughly the cost of this run and am I guaranteed a 3 month visa, rather than a Poipet 1 month type?? How long do I need to stay in Penang before the necessary documents are processed?

Also are there any tours that I could pay for so they could take the strain for me?

I know these are pretty basic questions, but hey I'm a pretty basic guy :D

Any info would much appreciated! Cheers.

You did not mention where you are but there is daily bus service to Hat Yai in Thailand and from there connecting bus/van/share taxi service is available to Penang. There is also one through train each day from Bangkok to Butterworth which is a short ferry ride to Georgetown, Penang. There is also daily air service and if you plan in advise it can be quite inexpensive.

You are not going to receive a 3 month visa with just a passport but you should be able to obtain a tourist visa good for 60 days that can normally be extended for another 30 days inside Thailand.

Passport to Consul in morning, back next afternoon at 1400 if no holiday.

Hotels/guest house easy to find and about or only a little more than Thailand.

Many posts on this subject.

Try the search button at the top of the page, type Penang,as said before there is a mountain of info on hotels, visa agents and travel.Book with air asia flights can be had for B500 each way.

Ah yes, forgot to mention that I'm in Bangkok! Thanks for the info, tried to find other posts on this subject but couldn't find any. Guess I just need to just dig a bit deeper.
