Shop Doenstairs / Live Upstairs

Please Help:

My poor Thai friend wants to open a shop (restaurant) and live upstairs. She can't find anywhere at a reasonable price.

She is looking for something around the 5000 baht a month area. (If that is possible. I think a Farang couldn't do it...)

Anyway, do you know any good deals right now or good places to start to look?

She would have to be super-lucky to find a place in a main area at that rent, but I have heard that there are some deals like that on the main street in the UN Irish Pub area, but closer to 10,000 baht. For 5,000, she might try on the small sois in that area.

10,000 baht is sort of a starter for that kind of set up.

a thai couple i know have a place in that price range, but it is not a place that a farang is likely to go to. it is over near chiang mai gate, but quite a ways down from there.
