Two Core And Separate Earth?

Featured Replies

Air-con installed with 2 x 4mm core cable, on a dedicated line. The earth wasn't taken back but, in a sort of unique style, a 2 inch nail was belted into the concrete and the earth wire from the compressor wrapped around the nail. I punched in a 2 meter ground peg and re-connected it to that in the interim. Now have MEN earthing and wondering if I can safely take a 2.5mm single earth lead back to the Consumer Box earth bar from the earth lead of the unit? Reason I'm asking is purely on cost. To replace the cable will cost 650 baht for two core 4mm plus earth. The single earth line just a few baht.

Thanks for the time.

I just love our Thai electricians.

I would suggest you use 4mm squared for your earth...& yes, it must go back to the earth bar in your consumer unit.

What size earth cable do you have going from your earth bar in your consumer unit, to the earth stake?
