i would like to spent a few months in chiang mai, but because of my asthma would like avoid the time of year when they slash and burn the fields. does anyone know when that usually is? thanks

Even though there are far fewer fields being burned, most of it occurs when they can burn because it's dry enough. Usually Dec to April is when the fields are the driest for burning. I figure from now to Dec, you will be happy to spend some time here.

The glib answer is after the harvest.

The stubble left from the harvest being gathered in now will be burnt whenever it is dry enough which given the current weather won't be any time soon :o

Now seems to be a good time to visit - hope you enjoy your stay. :D
