Australia:

Featured Replies

I'll preface this by saying I'm not a Ponting fan. While he is one of the great batsmen of all time, I've wanted him out of the captaincy for years. I think he stinks at the job.

However he is right in saying Australia was the best team in the stats.

Australia dominated this series statistically, boasting three of the four highest scorers and the three leading wicket-takers on either side.

But in the two Tests England won, across London at Lord's and here at the Oval, first innings collapses put Australia on the backfoot

"When we lost a session, it was like the one the other day (at the Oval), we lose eight wickets and blow ourselves out of the water," said Ponting.

Have to say as a player nothing but respect.

However, he had to have a part in leaving out a recognized spinner at the Oval.....Suicide

Your man Warne, who has one mighty cricket head on him quite rightly said, " Batsmen put you into the position, bowlers win test matches". Clever chap that Warne. :)

What's the Ashes???

Something you Ockers have held far too long, but now lost in a big way

You just gotta agree with that

I think Australia will be out of luck against South Africa in this game. I thought the Wallaby's could overcome the All Blacks but it was a much better second half for you guys and cruel though it may be that last kick was a good one.

Congratulations to the All Blacks

And how come THEY didn't falloff before discovering these places? Sliding downhill from Hawaii. edging along that slippery slope from South Africa or going off-course jn Indonesia - a long series of calamities that gave the world the Aunty Podes.

It may be a sign of my advancing age but I belong to an era when the game was more inportant than the win. Most certainly we played to win but it was not at the expense of good sportsmanship.

I was in New Zealand when Trevor Chappel was forced by brother Greg to bowl the infamous underarm bowl. I was ashamed of the team and subjected to a lot of abuse by (justifiably) angry Kiwis. I believe it was a signpost of changing attitudes from the sporting codes where winning at all costs was the new order of the day.

I thought the game against New Zealand All Blacks was very good. They played a very good game and deservedly won. Saturday night's game against South Africa was also a good game with the Springboks pouncing on the many elementary handling errors of the Wallabies. The second half was a much better showing by the Australians.

I congratulate them for the win and I hope the Wallabies learn from it. Similarly with the Cricketers - it is a team game and they all have play well as a team to win. One man cannot do it alone. England, New Zealand and South Africa have hammered that point home.

I couldn't agree more, CB.

To me the game is the thing.

Wannabys MUST win this week.

Australasians unite.

The banter between OZ & NZ is all good natured stuff, lotta laffs and fun.

Are you a Sth Ocker, we love them here..........

NZHerald, today. Australia's United Water is being sued for allegedly charging its overhead costs in Papakura (Auckland) and elsewhere in New Zealand to South Australian water users.

Benevolent Ockors...........LOL

You mean - like between the French and the Brits?

or - the Germans and the Brits?

or - the rest of the world and the septics?

You mean, Americans?

The whole phrase is 'Septic Tank' - but as with most cockney ryhming slang the first word is used only

Great news for you Aussies !! No longer do you have to put up with " the you've won f$%^& all " chants, from just about every other country on the globe.

OK, so Cricket, Rugby, Football and the like are well beyond you, but it seems you have won a world " Suduku" challenge.

National pride returns.

Yes I am a proud son of South Australia - hence the Crow Boy moniker - Crow Eaters is the nickname for South Aussies.

Alas after last week's loss to the Springboks I think that this next game for the Wallabies is not boding well. (At least our Women's Netball team beat their Kiwi counterparts)

Sorry about the water payment in NZ, poor ol' South Australia gets most of its water out of the River Murray which by the time it has passed through the Eastern States has the texture of fine mud. Still it makes dam_n good Coopers' Ale but only after it passes the Adelaide Zoo.

CB

Does that mean that Southwark & West End get their water out of the Torrens ?

It would certainly explain a lot.. :)

Congrats WALLABYS

OZ 21 v Boks 6

Yer really dun great over there, cobbers, despite ya Kiwi coach.

ABs can beat the Boks and Wannabies, yeah rite.

Would be great for rugby.

Once more.......

G'donya guys, well done.

NZHerald.

Australia has snapped its six-match Tri-Nations losing streak with a 21-6 win over South Africa, ensuring the competition won't be decided for at least another week. South Africa went into last night's match unbeaten in the Tri-Nations and needing only a draw to clinch the title, but never led. Australia's win which kept New Zealand alive in the tournament with two matches remaining.

Australasians Unite.

ABs gotta beat Boks now, OZ as well to win 3 Nations.

Absolutely correct - Southwark use the elephants as final filter and West End just continue to use the horses at Morphetville racecourse. This helps to provide that distinctive colour, odour and fruity tang to their beers. Coopers does not bother to stoop to these depths and simply makes a natural fermentation ale of heavenly quality.

The wallabies played very well - much like they should have during the entire series. Deans is a great coach (yes we all know he is a Kiwi and we appreciate that much like we adopt other kiwis who make the right move across the Tasman. Do you want Olivia Newton John back?)

At least this has given the wallabies a sting and put the boks back a peg or two. They should be ready for when they meet the ABs next.

Lived 9 years in OZ.

Coopers was always looking like Murray River waters settling.

I last drank it, reluctantly, no option, waaaaaay back during the big brewery strike in Melbs.

Used to love Richmond beers.

I was living and working in Qld many years ago when I was given a xmas gift of a carton of West End by an Adelaide truckie.

Only drank it at a xmas day party because we had run out of grog, all liquor outlets were closed, we were drunk and there were absolutely no alternatives!

It was crap, but we managed to knock it all off. :)

Love Coopers.

Although I very rarely go back. I am quite happy about that as Perth does seem to be wayyyyyy behind the times. Fancy not allowing shops to stay open after 6pm each day?????????? Carzy.

Anyway, handfs up all those that have heard of the Avon Descent?

I came fourth in the power boat division in 2001. My brother and I built our own boat, (which is basically a surfboard with a motor) and spent two days crashing through the rapids. I grew up on the banks of the Avon river in Toodyay, so every year the biggest day was the Avon Descent, we used to cheer the racers on from the West Toodyay bridge. Fantastic memories.
