I just got a brochure from Bank of Ayudhya about their Foreign Currency Deposit Account.

The details looks interesting:

- Only Passport required

- Minimum $500 for Savings Account and $5000 for Time Deposit

- ATM card for the Foreign Currency Account which allows to withdraw Thai Baht at the Real Time T/T Buying Rate

- Online Transfer of International Funds for 350 Baht

Any experiences with this service or this bank in general?

I use this bank and so far have had nothing to complain about. I transfer money in and withdraw cash from their ATM - so pretty basic transactions/service. They generally seem on the ball (or at least the staff in my local branch).

I'm looking at doing the same. Any experience with their online banking? I will need to be able to transfer money from one account to another (all ayudhya accounts)

Considered it briefly. 2% charge when you put it in and 2% when you take it out. If you leave it there earning for a year you will only lose a little, since the interest is less than 4% and the gov't gets 15% of interest earned. Not my idea of a money maker.

Very true, but what are the options for a farang living in Thailand if want to have some Fx here in the country?
