My wife’s sister is looking for domestic job in Bangkok using an agency.

I have not got all the details yet but it seems that the agency intend to take their fee from her salary. I don’t know if this will be a one off or a monthly deduction. I always thought the employer was the one to pay the agency fees but this is the LOS so things may be different. :D

Anybody have experience dealing with agencies? Do they charge the job seeker as well as the employer? :o

Thanks

Daffy.

Here in Singapore it is the same, the maid has the fee deducted from her first and second months pay. Yes it sounds harsh BUT it does mean the maid will not up and leave after the first pay date which is so common in low-entry level jobs. A good employer will then re-imburse her over the following few months and hopefully by then she will be there to stay :-)

Mmmmm! Interesting put that way it sounds reasonable, will have get some more information and see how much she is expected to pay up.

Anybody from LOS employing domestic staff have any hard information?

:o
