Koh Phangan - Chalok Lam - Accomodation

Featured Replies

I am looking to stay in Koh Phangan on the less developed North side around Chalok Lam Bay. I found Fantasea Resort on the internet. Has anyone stayed there? The pictures look great. Otherwise any other good places to stay in Chalok Lam that are on the beach and with very comfortable bungalows around 2000 baht per night?

Try chaluklam bay resort or malibu.

there is also the mandalay hotel.

haad yao is also a beatiful beach and just as develloped as chaluklam.

mandalai not mandalay

malibu is under construction, they have ripped out all the old school bungalows and are putting in a pool. otherwise it would certainly have been the call. still worth visiting the beach when you are there though

Chaloklam bay is OK, but ony if you get a newer room, fanta is pretty good, but i am not sure what their 2000 baht rooms look like, i didn't know they had them. Chaloklam isnt a big place you should be able to find something when you arrive.

mandalai is beautiful, it is on the beach, and it is expensive. look 3 to 4k minimum per night, but they soemtimes offer 2 nights FOR 1 deals.

It's a big joke ! Haad Yao is awful place now.... :o

I have heard (only) about this one "Utopia" and the view is stunning, like from an eagles nest. Don't know more about it, but could fit your wishes, maybe? : phanganutopia.com/

and as mentioned from stevethongsala, Had Yao is a mess at the moment, a huge construction site. But I guess staying there could still be ok, since it is a bloody beautiful spot and beach :o and the water is coming back in the afternoon.

Mandalai is also one on the other side (upper) on the scale of the prices on Phangan. It is located in the midlle of the beautiful fishermens village. Utopia is as I said on an hill, between Chaloklum and Maehad Area.

I thought the Mandalai was very odd actually. A boutique hotel with a shaded pool set within an inner courtyard and an overwhelming smell of squid. I thought it was a very very odd choice of location and that they had tried to fit far too much in far small a space.

I've received a message from... :D ....that's not allowed to make an advertising for a commercial website and I'm suprised to see that now :o That's all........

Indeed, making recommendations for rooms is acceptable, but using that to promote one's site time after time is against forum rules.
