Let's clear up this Kamagra thing. It's not "illegal" Viagra is not "illegal". So keep searching for the reason.

I drive Rama 4 on my motorcycle quite often with no hassles. What you describe is very irregular. Tourism is still a top earner here. Rogue cops aren't doing anyone any favors.

Would have been good to tell them to get their Boss Sergeant Nop down to the scene.

They have road block in front of Rama IV Lotus (Kasemrat side) almost every weekend. They started two three years ago checking most of the cars and taxis coming from the port night time. For more than a year ago they started to check cars going in that does not make any sense to me if they are looking drugs bought from port of Klong Toey slums. While being rude they always conduct the search in proper manner i.e. ask you to take your money and other contents of your wallet out yourself before handing it over to them for inspection.

I stay in the area and get regularly searched when going home, there is 100+ foreigners staying just in my building so there is quite a lot of farangs around Lotus.

I was just having a stroll down Rama IV in Bangkok when 2 motocops leapt on me and conducted a VERY intensive search - probably lasting 20 mins or so. The guy searching me was in my face at all times, demanding to know what everything in my possession was, demanding I show him my passport etc. He went through every pocket in turn, taking out the contents for examination, before giving them back to me, then starting the whole process again. He was really desperate to find something and very disappointed when he didn't. Funny thing was, a mate had given me a sachet of Kamagra gel late last night that I'd forgotten about - the police took a great deal of interest in it, but let me have it back. They kept asking if it needed to be taken with beer, for some reason. I'm sure it is illegal in Thailand and amazed they let me off with it.

I don't mind admitting I was shitting it, not least because he kept grabbing my penis. I was worried about the Kamagra, but even more so that they may plant drugs on me.

What is the likelihood of drugs being planted? What do you actually do if they have planted something on you? Do you offer them a bribe, or will that make matters worse? Also, how regular is this sort of thing? Anyone else been SASed?

No wonder you rarely see farangs walking around in any of the off-the-beaten-track areas. Taxis all the way for me from now on.

This happen to me on Friday Night. 10 mins it last and cost me 2 K. tea money dose not bother me at all. But these punks are asking for trouble!!

Sorry it was Friday morning not night.

Around that area cops are in pears pulling over at intersections and corners, they will get up all in your face like you have just robbed a bank or something. Then one cop will take your wallet and pass it to the other cop while his all in your face and searching your pockets the other one is seeing how much cash is in your wallet.

2000 Baht – that’s a lot of tea. Can you explain more? What were you carrying to warrant a 2000 baht pay off ?

No I had nothing on me. It wasn't till I was near my house I realized they took 2K. maybe more! All I had on me was an old expired drivers license, they looked at it and asked where form? No hassles there really. But they kept searching for something more,

When I was driving back I was thinking to my self. I have never seen cops act like that before and then I pulled over and looked at my wallet. Christ where the F is my money!!

Like I said I wouldn't mind paying 500 for tea money cus I was in the wrong. But they cops are interested in making a lot more. I was grinding my teeth!!

...I'm sure there are worse times to be told you've a small penis...

Perhaps you should drop the "Super" from your nick.

Obvious troll.

In what way?

Trolls usually provide false information, then have hissyfits when it's pointed out to them they don't know what they're talking about. Sound familiar, Dorothy?

Yeah, but we all know size doesn't matter.

Obvious troll.

Is that comment really necessary ? (Particularly from someone who’s only topic starter is about raising buffalo !)

An obvious troll in my opinion is someone who offers no contribution to and tries to hijack a thread with negativity or stupidity. People like this are the ones who turn what are often productive threads into a slanging match. They have nothing of benefit , good humour or anything other than mind numbing blandness to offer then its better they don’t post.

Just my opinion, I don't wish to get drawn into and respond to a trollish reply anymore than I have already done so.

I don't usually go in for internet stalking, but that simply isn't true - Dorothy has started TWO topics, which have resulted in a grand total of TWO responses!

Besides, a quick look at a few of her previous posts indicates a fine individual, and one I quite like. Liberal, tolerant, good taste, opinionated to the point of narcissism, *always completely right about everything, particularly Thai law on controlled substances*, witty, intelligent, easy-going and no doubt extremely handsome as well.

Definitely NOT someone who has fortuitously made enough money to exploit poor people. Definitely not. No.

I also have been stopped in a taxi, Soi Phrom Pong, early hours of the morning. Full road block. Loads of coppers. "Where have you been? Where are you going? Thank you. That's all."

In my opinion the one's that police from Asoke to Ekkamai are the most searching.

Once as I crossed the street at Asoke stopped me when walking. Purely random shakedown. Once the saw my id and and noticed two other younger looking tourist type farangs walking up to the same point, let me go and stopped them.

Once on a motorbike at 10pm as I was on Soi 23 heading to Soi 11. On the back of a moto taxi, two boys in brown were at a light as we pulled up beside them. They looked at the farang and got off their bike and asked me to empty my pockets. Purely random shakedown.

Once in a taxi as I turned onto Rachadpisek towards Soi 16. Road block, asked me to step out, searched pockets and even my Foodland Shopping Bag. Again, purely random shakedown of a farang.

FYI, I have had a hair cut regularily and dress smart casual.

Never been searched anywhere else in Bangkok in 8 years.

Rompo Mansion is around the corner from where you got stopped. Lots of non-Thai students, 'model' types etc so they may have intelligence that there are people carrying/selling drugs, esp. Coke/E in that area. Your look may have attracted them.

I have been stopped a few times in the past, both walking and in a taxi. Each time it was near Mystique (obviously before it was closed) and they were obviously looking for drugs. I just smiled, chatted a little and co-operated, whilst trying to keep control of the situation, opening my wallet and taking things out myself when they wanted to look in it etc. They were cool each time and made no attempt to plant/steal anything. I always carry a copy of my passport and work permit with me which may help deter any dodgy cops attempting to fit you up as if you live and work here you may know the system and have friends. I imagine it would be easier to fit up some tourist.

Yes, I know Rompo - what is it with the 'model' types? I've never seen a bigger collection of beautiful people in my life - are they actually models, or are they here to service the farang side of the flesh trade?

Luckily in Thailand profiling is allowed and used extensively by Thai Police is deciding who to search.

TH

Presumably they profile those of us with hairdresser phobias...it's not "lucky" for me!
