from original application to the visa being issued

My friend the Thai lady is heavily pregnant her husband had to return to his

employment in the UK

Her only purpose in being in BKK is waiting for the visa and obviously she and

her husband hoped to have their child in the UK

a rough time estimate would help her make short term plans for the future

If the application is straightforward and is decided upon the paperwork, a decision can generally be expected within a working week of the application being made. If an interview is deemed appropriate, it will depend upon how long the interview queue is at that point.

My wife submitted her sv application on a monday, the sv was granted on the thursday.

But on her passport it was granted on wednesday.

As Scouse and Scotty say about one week if all your paperwork is in order. Although from walking in the visa office door, to stamp in the passport can take a few days more, if further medical examinations are required.
