Have to have 40.000 baht in monthly income to get 1 year extension of stay.

Earlier I stayed on Multiple Non-B Visa with only 30.000 baht in income

well in fact it doesn't cost you more than your previous solution as you don't have to buy a visa anymore saving hotels, trip to go there and the visa run every three months :o

^^^ you also get tax deductions for being married and if you are taking "care" of her parents....I think 20,000 for the wife and 15,000 for the parents...If I am not mistaken.

You`ll get a multiple non-o visa without showing any money now that your married. 500 ringit (5000 baht) in penang.

Also since your wife now own 50 % of your company anyway, you might consider putting it in her name and you will see the tax go from 1000/month to 1200/year. At least mine did.

You also might consider getting a new adviser.... :D .

And no, dont ever get the idea from this post that marriage is profitable!!! But no reason not to use the few things that actually can bring you benefits. :D

Btw, congratulations to you and your wife!

Have to have 800.000 baht in bank now in Penang. (new rule)

The tax rise is because of social security.

With an income of 40.000 I can get one year extension of stay.

This will save me border trip every 3 months and a trip to Penang ever 15 months.

I hate the minibuses so I always fly to Penang even for border stamps.

So, heck yes I going to save money.

You need to show 30,000 baht monthly income to get a work permit which results in a now reduced income tax payment of 1,000 baht per month. Put you wife on the books on a salary of say 10,000 to 15,000 baht per month and she will not pay income tax ( Thai citizens only pay income tax over 15,000 baht per month) just a small insurance payment ( I think 300 baht per month) , and your combined salary now exceeds the 40,000 baht threshold to enable you to apply for a "married man's visa" ie. the one year extension that replaces border runs with 90 day "check-in" visits to Nathon immigration.
