samuibeachcomber Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 can anyone tell me if immigration stipulate what type of a/c money has to be in?I currently have a savings a/c but would like to put the funds into either a term deposit or a foreign cuurency a/c. Any advice would be appreciated.
cass50 Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 The simplest way to find out is to go to the immigration office and ask them yourself. There are various "formulas" for qualifying for the retirement visa extension, depending on your circumstances (proof of pension etc>), some of which do not require the funds to be held in Thailand. However to the best of my knowledge, any "qualifying" deposits have to be held in a TBHT savings or fixed deposit account.
The Vulcan Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I had a problem with Hua Hin immigration simply because my funds were in a "fund account" and not in a cash account. It seems that you need your money in an "immediately available" type of account to qualify.

Peterpan Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 You put your money in a savings account, you cant have current account unless you have a work permit. Money has to be in 90 days prior to you applying for your retirement extension visa. Once you have your visa do what you want with the money.
