August 21, 200817 yr I'd like to take my girlfriend (Thai) to Vientiane for a few days. My plan is to show her ID card at the border, applying there for a border pass for one(?) day. After returning from Vientiane after 4-5 days, I would pay her overstay fine for the additional days at the Vientiane border post. Possible??
August 21, 200817 yr "Yes" to the ID question. About the overstay--you should research the penalties if caught by Laos authorities before you get back to the border.

August 21, 200817 yr Depending on the border, you can buy a border pass which is valid for at least 3 days, maybe for a little bit more money, even 5 days. Otherwise, overstaying doesn't seem to be that big a deal in Laos then it is in Thailand.

LOL - shouldn't that be 'Cheers for the MIS-Information?' Your GF will not be jailed for overstaying - just a fine for each day (I forget the amount). Or just do as abdulrahman says and save the hassle and fine.
