Procedure Of Using Two Passports

Featured Replies

Hello !

I am going to leave Thailand with my children to Germany.

As they are both born in Thailand they have Thai passports.

Because I went through the trouble of getting German birth certificates they were

able to get German passports (from the German embassy in Bangkok) too.

So now once I leave Thailand which passport my girls going to use?

After my opinion

*************

Out of Thailand:

leaving Thailand the Thai passports and entering Germany the German passports.

BAck for a Visit:

Leaving Germany the German passport and entering Thailand the Thai passport.

Is this correct, or am I wrong?

Thanks for any hint.

Correct. When leaving there will be departure/entry slips placed in there passports which will be collected on there return. At check in at Bangkok airport staff will likely want to see both passports to prove they do not need a visa for Germany.

Thank you for the confirmation - and yes you are right with the airlines, didn't think about that.

Thanks

maxi

Yup, the only time you want to use the destination country's passport is to prove to the airlines upon check-in that you can legally enter the country and then to enter/depart the destination country itself.
