We have a Mitsubishi L200 with high mileage. I plan on replacing it in the New Year but need to keep this one going until then. It has one or two niggling problems that I can’t seem to get fixed. One of them is quite strange. Every day when we start the truck in the morning and drive away from home we get about half a km from home and it stops. Amusingly this is exactly by the side of the Security hut on the exit of the estate. It’s quite funny. Anyway, this happens every time, even if we try leaving it to run for a few minutes before driving. We have had it to a couple of garages who have failed to sort it out. Has anyone any idea what it could be?

Have you tried changing the fuel filters?

No, but it does get services regularly and the wife has had it to the Mitsubishi dealer. Also, would that account for it stopping only at the firse 0.5km point? Once we restart it after this stop it deasn't do it again all day. It is so predictable that she does not like to go to the market in the morning as it does it right by the security hut with traffic waiting behind her.

Maybe vacum in fuel tank? breatherhole blocked in cap and perhaps overnight airtight seal developes which then eventually releases at 0.5 km point but after engine stops, then vibration of truck keeps it clear until the next long motionless period that night.

Richb,

I had the same problem with my mitsu it's a 2800cc model, it's the fuel pump there is a diesel injector service shop in Rayong it's on the left side about 300 mtrs before Lotus. Total cost repairing the pump and cleaning the injectors was 3,000bt takes about 3 hours. That was 3 years ago and no problem since.

Thats great. I'll look into getting that fixed as soon as possible. Then I'll have the breaks done and maybe will be able to put off the replacement for a while. I just hope that I can explain it to the guy in the shop. Do you still have the Mitsu?

I'll try that tomorrow morning before we set off. Cheers.
