Victim gives chase following necklace snatch on Pattaya Third Road.

There was drama in Soi Beokeow at around 2pm on Saturday following a necklace snatch which occurred on Pattaya Third Road close to Xyzte Discotheque. Khun Janpen aged 36 was on her motorbike with her foreign boyfriend when a Thai Man pulled up beside them and snatched a gold necklace from around her neck. The victim and her boyfriend decided to give chase and were able to catch up with the suspect, later named as Khun Yong aged 23, in Soi Beokeow, close to the junction with the Central Pattaya Road. People nearby were able to detain the suspect and call the Police. Khun Yong appeared to have been attacked during the detention and was taken to Hospital suffering from head injuries. The victim and her boyfriend made their way to Pattaya Police Station to file a report on the incident. Police have arrested the suspect on a charge of theft and he will be transferred to the holding cells at Pattaya Police Station when he is discharged from Hospital.

agreed, but may be the thought of a being detained by a lynch mob will deter him from trying it again.

Just looking at the Pattaya News Clipping Section on here is enough to make the local TAT office not sleep at night (or during the day for that matter).
