That's true Bodypaul. Untill some 200-250 years ago (when the USA merely existed) there was NO such thing as a marriage in Europe; most 'couples' would come and go as they pleased or broke up and went along the road.

According to me, a 'mia noi' means a wife 'on the side'. The woman would get everything she needed from the man (place to live etc.) except for the status of full wife. I was always given to understand this was as much a status symbol thing as cheating....Or did I get that wrong?
