I fancy Millwall in the 3rd Round if they can overcome Aldershot at Home, that'll be one to warm the Cockles on a cold January Midday or 11 O Clock Kick Off..:o

You should be OK.

Even we managed to beat them last season, 3-2 with a last minute winner.

I am really beginning to dislike this thread of mine.

Last night,Port Vale 1 Macclesfield 3 :o .Great win away for the Silkmen who now go into the hat with the Premiership teams for the 3rd round draw.

Also, last night,a bit of an upset with Barrow beating Brentford 2-1.

This weekends games include,Forest Green Rovers v Rochdale,Torquay v Oxford and Histon v Leeds United.

Good luck to our teams, everything to play for.

Forest V Barnsley...............Calderdud's last stand, perhaps ??

Tricky one MrBJ !!! FGR v The Dale ?? I wouldn't fancy that, it's a bit like the other season when we played Sailsbury City live on TV & everyone just rooting for an upset......that never come :o

Well played the Macc lads. Vale have picked up the last few games, so was a good result for you.

Actually i've changed my mind. I hope the Dale lose today so that they can concentrate on the League :o

What price Forest Green for the last 8 Mr.BJ..........

It's a Mickey Mouse Cup anyway Ken. Rochdale are rightly concentrating on League Promotion, so that in 3 years they can be in the Champions league :o

FA Cup third round draw:

Macclesfield v Everton

Great draw for Macclesfield :D I think they will still play it at the Moss Rose even though it only holds 6000.

I remember a couple of years ago Macc played Chelsea away and I took my Thai wife to London for the first time for a weekend break. She enjoyed Harrods and Oxford Street but not the match.Absolutely chucked it down and Macc lost 6-1. :D

Poor Histon, beat Leeds then get Swansea.....maybe an outside chance of progressing.

Torquay....Blackpool at home.....Macc beat Blackpool in the Carling Cup so who knows.

Forest got Man City away,Preston home to Liverpool,Southampton host Man U.....West Ham v Barnsley,Hammers should go through.

Spare a thought for poor Eastwood Town, the smallest team left. They beat the unbeaten League 2 leaders,Wycombe, then get Notts County or Kettering away as their reward :o

But,overall,some pretty interesting games.

Just to bring this thread back to life for a moment.

We were discussing how important Managers see the FA Cup as a trophy to win when they are trying to achieve promotion with a small squad.

We have all read what BURNLEY have achieved in both Cups this season, an outstanding run in both Coca Cola and FA Cups.

However...over the past month they have LOST every league game they have played seeing them slip from 4th to 9th, and are now off the pace for a play off place they would most certainly have achieved had it not been for their involvement in the cup games.

Coppell, as expected made 9 changes to the side that went out at Cardiff (last years runners-up) so it wa absolutley unsurprising we lost...and I cetainly did not care that we lost.

Now Reading are just 2 points behind Wolves...after being 10 points behind at Xmas, Wolves also still have an FA Cup replay to deal with..I hope they win it...more games...more fatigue, sending offs, bookings and injuries (don't like to say that ...but its true),..anything that helps us achieve our aim of promotion is helpful..and we'll take it! Having said that McCarthy did rest his big name players against Muddlesborough.

So is a good cup run.....with no end result worth more than a pop at playing with the big boys...not in my book :o

Yeah i'd definately agree with that for the Championship sides looking to get promoted..

For the League's under that, they're looking for the Big Boys & a Pay day, the Clubs looking for promotion in the Championship have their pay day if they get promoted..

Burnley got spanked at Watford last night too..
