Can anyone give me an idea of the taxi fare from Don Muang to Pattaya so's I don't get fleeced?

Got a long haul bag this time so the Mo Chit / Ekammai bus is out of the question.

Many Thanks

One thousand to 1,500 is the normal range from a meter taxi for this trip - just arrange price and if expressway fee is included. Gas is very much more expensive than is used to be so I would not try to cut too deep.

I very much advise not trying to get this service from the arrival area (or from touts). First of all it is not authorized, and second it offers no security. Plus it will only save you the 50 baht airport/security charge in any case. Use those who follow the rules. Those in the taxi queue have been checked, registration recorded and drivers photos taken.

The taxi rank still has some pretty ropey vehicles.

I use the limousine service, NOT the THAI one, the others.

Around 1600-1700 tolls included - be sure to insist on this last part.

If you know someone in Pattaya, it can be easier if they send a taxi for you. Cost about 1000Baht or 800Baht if you are lucky. Your friend will probably have to pay a deposit.

True but as this would be a charter by you and driver you can check that out first. But agree the limo is a good option and really not that expensive.

I've always agreed a set fare of 800B to Pattaya from the airport. If one says no then move along. Theres always one who'll do it there especially during the daytime. You may have to offer a bit more at night.

You must have the gift professor..Ive tried that one and only ever managed to get it down to 1200...

800! You sure it wasn't a tuk tuk!.

Thanks for all the tips everyone. Think I'll go for the limo option. But, what do you mean not a Thai one? :o

I was told 800B is the 'official' flat fare to Pattaya in a meter taxi which is why I hold out for that price.

I put 'official' in commas simply because I have no idea who makes the official decisions in these cases. I have seen a list of flat fares shown to me by a BKK taxi driver, to various locations such as 2000B to Hua Hin/Cha Am and 300B to Ayutthya. For all I know this flat rate could well have gone up in the last few months.
