November 25, 200817 yr Boy George 'chained male escort to wall' BOY George, the former Culture Club singer, handcuffed a male escort to his bedroom wall and threatened him with bondage equipment after accusing him of tampering with his computer, a court was told yesterday The musician, appearing under his real name, George O'Dowd, chained up Audun Carlsen, a 29-year-old Norwegian, after a drug-fuelled erotic photo shoot went wrong, Snaresbrook Crown Court was told. The 47-year-old pop star is charged with one count of false imprisonment over the alleged incident, at Mr O'Dowd's flat in Shoreditch, East London, in April last year. Heather Norton, for the prosecution, said that Mr O'Dowd had contacted Mr Carlsen via the Gaydar website, offering him £400 to model naked. The meeting, in January last year, initially went well. But after Mr Carlsen downloaded some of the pictures from the singer's laptop on to his own Gaydar profile page, Mr O'Dowd accused him of tampering with a second computer. Nevertheless, the pair parted on good terms. In the following weeks Mr O'Dowd bombarded Mr Carlsen with angry e-mails. Later he relented, telling the escort he had a "heavenly butt". The pair agreed to meet again, Ms Norton said. After they took drugs Mr Carlsen posed for more erotic photographs before Mr O'Dowd left the flat, saying he was fetching milk. Upon his return he called Mr Carlsen into his bedroom, where he was met by a third man, whom Mr O'Dowd has refused to name. Ms Norton said: "The two men grabbed Mr Carlsen and forced him, we say, to the floor. Mr O'Dowd produced a set of handcuffs. They placed one end on Mr Carlsen's right wrist and the other end was placed through a hook that was screwed to a fixture." Mr Carlsen told the court: "George was slapping me and beating me and punching me and screaming things." Mr O'Dowd and the other man then left the room, the jury was told. Ms Norton said: "Mr Carlsen managed to work the hook loose. Mr O'Dowd returned carrying a box." She said that it contained chains, sex toys and leather straps, and added: "Mr O'Dowd said, 'Now you are going to get it'." At that point Mr Carlsen forced himself free, and fled in a distressed state. Wearing only his underpants and a pair of handcuffs, he alerted a newsagent to his predicament. Jurors were shown photographs of deep red welts on Mr Carlsen's head and injuries to his arm. The handcuffs had to be sawn off by police. Mr O'Dowd admits locking up the escort in handcuffs, but denies the charge. "He wanted to find out whether Mr Carlsen had tampered with his computer," Ms Norton said. "He wanted to make sure Mr Carlsen would not be able to leave while he did that check." The case continues.
