I've definitely read a few posts to the effect that EVA are flying into Utapau. No idea how many flights a week or whether the info is reliable. Good luck anyway Moss.

it should be safe there Moss. the airbase is controlled by the Navy, if they let something violent take place there, then they shouldnt be able to request their 'secret' budgets anymore!

it will be very busy i suspect. when I left from Phuket it was quite chaotic there too, but at least they have dealt with immigration process previously, where as Utapao would have only had that set up.

The flight for the wife and boy is still on for tomorrow, but still trying to get it moved to my flight a week later, some reports in General & Travel are stating chaotic and some drunk scenes.

We have a friend ready to pick them up, but I am still thinking it's risky.

I couldn't take the risk with them on their own Mig and no one could guarantee my flight a week later and with no further guarantees of a flight back for work purposes, I cancelled much to my chagrin.

My bloody travel insurance agents are trying not to cough for my airticket......My day gets worse.

Even though it is all getting back to normal we have decided to cancel the trip in march cause my family do not feel confident of Thailands reputation anymore. I can't say I blame them, many people have said, "oh whats the problem being delayed a couple of weeks, it's not life & death" but maybe those poeple aren't self employed or look after people at home, people have many kinds responsibilities in their home countries that the PAD just didn't care about when they started this stupid action.

My mum & aunt for example, who were both coming over in march are the main carers for my elderly, cancer riddled nan, they had spent months arrangeing adequate cover with nursing services (out of their own pocket) & other distant family & freinds to make sure she was taken care of for the 3 weeks they were both medically & getting her shopping done etc but after all this they can't be sure that other protests & airport attacks wont happen & cant afford to take the risk so they wont go. As a knock on effect, they two were the main poeple I wanted at my wedding party so we will also cancel that & will see about rescheduling in a years time.

Luckily we onty loose flight deposits but Cheers PAD, you bunch of wanke_rs.

I wouldn't go as far as to call myself a victim Thad, hacked off maybe, but not a victim, I wasn't after all in Mumbai!!

However, I reckon visitors are in free fall because I have just rebooked the same flight and cheaper than I bought 9 months ago, also EVA are advertising even cheaper right now.

Just yesterday, they were showing astronomical prices and other Agents on other air lines were very expensive, I just wonder how much damage has been done and was it all worth it in the end, no matter what side of the divide you are on?

All this must have badly damaged Thailand's image. Will it ever recover? I'm trying to sell my house in Samui at the moment at a real bargain price - not a sniff of interest. Still, who knows what might happen. Who's that singing 'Always look on the bright side of life'?
