The New Year is nearly on us. Has anybody set themselves any serious goals or new years resolutions.

My own (in no particular order)

Become fluent in Thai (My level of Thai after nearly four years living here is disgraceful)

Complete the launch my own training agency - I'm fed up of making more money for other people than I do for myself.

To tour Northern Thailand.

See Sunderland return to the Premiership (I know I have no input but I would still like to see it happen).

What are yours ?

I'm with you on the Thai, Wanraya. Been here semi-permanent for three or four years now and at that plateau stage where I can understand most that's said but not at the fluent stage, in fact far from it. I learnt the alphabet (Thai) a while back but most of that's gone already, so will make a real effort to get there.

Get the fitness back up to par, but need to find a decent gym nearby first.

Make a million from ventures I have in mind, one of which has been nagging me for years but never got off my lazy ass to see it through.

Northern Thailand's well worth a look. I live in Chiang Mai and it's gorgeous up here surrounded by the mountains...bloody cold at night though at the mo ubt nice for snuggling up next to the better half.

Good question let's hope this thread remains semi-serious!

Goals for 2005:

The PRIMARY goal (dream) is for England to win back The Ashes! I will certainly be heading home for at least one test match.

On the more personal side, keep improving my Thai, although I am about 80% fluent, there's still the target of 99% - 100% is unobtainable...

Take my business to the next level and "take the plunge" to finally get a mortgage sorted out. Have a family now (1 year old boy), time to settle down properly.

...and finally, to get Wanraya to email me and let my company design the website for his new agency!

Happy Chrimbo Y'all!

What are yours ?

In no particular order or precedence ...

- restart my exercise program

- set a wedding date with my fiancee'

- spend more time getting to know my fiancee's daughter, mother and brothers

- continual improvement with my Thai language skills

- try to lose 50 pounds while also reducing my body fat percentage

- resolve a couple of ongoing issues

Other than that, it's been a great year. I'm a pretty happy person right and pretty happy with where the winding path of my life has taken me over the past few years.

Sorry but I only ever have the one...to make it through life to the next New Year. :o

Yeah for sure .... one of my colleagues is fond of quoting an American radio talk show host (Imus), who says something to the effect of "83 is a pretty good run ..... unless you are 82" :D
