I am getting an extension of my marriage visa and I need to show my income in the United States.

Does anyone know what kind of papers my embassy needs to verify my foreign income in the U.S. and do those papers need to be translated into Thai. As always Thai immigration has not been helpful in answering these questions for me.

The USA Embassy does not need any proof. You swear on oath that it is your true income.

You should contact your embassy about what they will accept as proof. Incase of the US embassy you will only have to make a sworn statement regarding your income at the embassy. This doesn't need to be translated, they will accept an English letter.

That's the most amazing thing I've heard yet!

And is this sufficient for Thai immigration as proof of my overseas income? Do I need to provide Thai immigration with any other type of proof?

For US citizens doing the marriage visa extension they can/will ask for bank statements (6 Months) along with that bogus income letter from the US embassy that often is requested to be endorsed by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

So much fun and stupidity to reside in LOS

It is only bogus if you make it bogus.

I did my marriage extension with an affidavit. from US embassy. That was all I needed.

Subjective based on the location of the immigration office, Pattaya always requests copies of my bank statements showing I have at least the equivalent of 50,000 Thai Baht per month deposited into it.

That figure should realistically be 40,000 correct ?

But surreal is the norm when dealing with Thai immigration.

For an extension of stay based on marriage it should be 40,000 baht a month. But even that is questionable, as the income is before taxes.

yes , I print them off from my online account based in USA.

Guess Pattaya realizes the letter from the US embassy is based totally on faith - sort of like the value of our currency.

Because of the US procedure for getting an embassy letter, some immigration officials might ask for aditional proof. That could be bank statements from the US or a Thai bank book. Also some officiers like to see some proof you actualy spend money in Thailand in the form of a Thai bank book.

Hi,

I'm a UK citizen and I've been checking out the requirements for the 1 year 'wife' extension to my multi non-o visa. I was originally going to put the 400,000 baht in the bank for 3 months because I didn't have bank statements or wage slips with me here. Since the exchange rate is now so bad, I checked at the UK embassy and found that for the proof of the income letter, they will accept printed out statements from my online account (UK immigration would only accept actual bank statements when I got visas for my wife to go to the UK!). Therefore I am now looking to use the proof of income route.

Could someone please tell me what I need to do to get the endorsement from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs? Is it just a matter of taking the UK embassy's letter and bank statements to get an additional stamp?

Thanks

All you need is the letter from the embassy.

The MFA endorsement thing went away years ago.

My wife was told that I needed a stamp from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in addition to the Embassy letter when she phoned the Immigration office in Bangkok earlier this week.

It must be a misunderstanding or wrong information.

The only time a stamp is needed from the MFA is for certification of translations that I know of.

OK. I'll get to the Immigration office to check what they want. Maybe they meant a translation of the Embassy's letter.

Thanks

That also is not required.

People get extensions every day day with letters from their embassy with no stamp or translation needed..
