bkkjames Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Whos getting that last place ?As a Villa fan my heart says Villa but brain says Arsenal. Villa, the team is positive, looking forward will nip the Gunners because of the exact opposite reason.
balo Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Aston Villa because I've always been a fan of them. And I hate Arsenal
StevieH Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 i wouldn't rule out everton either. though if i was betting i'd go on villa.
MSingh Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Villa keep getting those Away wins, crack on Villa...
Macclad Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Chelsea and Liverpool have lost their early season impetus so neither can be 100% certain of qualifying for the Champions League though youd think they should be OK. Villa are having a great season and I've always rated Martin O'Neill as a manager. Everton are going really well though I think their current lack of strikers will make it hard for them.
mrtoad Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 It's all becoming interesting. I reckon it'll end up like this 1. Man Utd 2. Chelsea 3. Aston Villa 4. Liverpool 5. Everton 6. Arsenal
ThaiPauly Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 It's all becoming interesting. I reckon it'll end up like this1. Man Utd 2. Chelsea 3. Aston Villa 4. Liverpool 5. Everton 6. Arsenal Deffo United champs, I could see Villa finishing second (and it would be such a refreshing change)if they carry on playing the way they are. Chelsea and Liverpool fighting for third with Arsenal finishing fifth.
delboy Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I've been checking the results so far this season compared to the corresponding matches against the same opponents last season (substituting promoted teams for those relegated at the end of last season). This is the current standing following matches on 27 Jan. Man U..........+3 points.........-4 goals scored.......-3 goals conceded Liverpool.......-2 points.........-8 goals scored......+2 goals conceded Chelsea.......-14 points........+6 goals scored........0 goals conceded Arsenal.........-9 points........-11 goals scored......+5 goals conceded Villa...........+16 points.........-4 goals scored......-12 goals conceded Everton.........-6 points.........-9 goals scored......+9 goals conceded Looking at the remaining matches for each team, in the corresponding matches last season. Man U (16 matches)...........Won 13 Drew 1 Lost 2 Liverpool (16 matches).......Won 7 Drew 6 Lost 3 Chelsea (16 matches)........Won 6 Drew 8 Lost 2 Arsenal (16 matches).........Won 9 Drew 6 Lost 1 Villa (15 matches)..............Won 9 Drew 2 Lost 4 Everton (16 matches).........Won 6 Drew 5 Lost 5 The strange fact is that Chelsea have 14 points less than last season despite scoring 6 goals more and conceding the same number. My guess for the final 6 places. 1. Man U 2. Liverpool 3. Villa 4. Chelsea 5. Arsenal 6. Everton
redrus Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Table, as of last night.
