Non-immigrant 'o' Visa

Featured Replies

Hi, I am an irish national recently arrived (3 months) residing on Koh Phangan on the non-immigrant 'o' visa. I am 5 1/2 months pregnant now and plan to have the baby in Koh Samui in June. Myself and my partner are due to go on a 'visa run' shortly to get another 3 months validity on our visa's. This time it is fine, but the next time we will be due to do a visa a run i will be heavily pregnant and really do not want to do a visa run as i am afraid of going into early labour!! Is there any way around this? I am aware that there is an immigration post on Samui - does anyone know if they would be able to stamp my visa in lieu of a boarder crossing??

Also, which would be the better boarder to cross to get back to phangan in one day, myanmar or malasyia??

Thanks a million in advance for any help!!

Seek out a medical doctor to give you paperwork for a medical extension of your current permission to stay that will be close to your delivery date. Then bring that to local immigration and ask for more time.

From where you are Malaysia and Ranong are about the same. However the road to Malaysia might be a bit more comfortable. Go and have a chat with Samui Immigration about an Extension in the future.

This is the rule for a Medical Extension.

2.25 In the case of medical

treatment or convalescence or to look after a patient:

Permission will be granted for a period of not more than 90 days at a time.

(1) Confirmation and request has been made by a physician

responsible for the treatment. The Physician must describe the details of treatment and advised that the illness is a barrier for travelling.

(2) In the case of looking after a patient, confirmation and request has been made by the physician responsible for the treatment or by an embassy or consulate.

(3) Patient Carer, except parents, spouse, children, adopted children or children of spouse, shall be granted no more than 1 extra person.
