pop3 Posted February 10, 2009 Share Posted February 10, 2009 Im using ubuntu v7.10 and all is well eccept for a problem on my Evolution mail. I am using pop with gmail. I can send mail ok no problem but I cannot recieve mail to Evolution ? I get the message... Error while fetching mail. cannot get message gmail. input/output error. higgy88 Posted February 12, 2009 Share Posted February 12, 2009 Unfortunately, Evolution is not mentioned in Gmail help as either a supported or an unsupported email client. configuring other email clients But there are standard instructions for all clients which you may want to follow. I don't use Evolution, but you should find all these settings in your "account settings", which in Thunderbird is near the bottom of the drop down list under "edit". niller74 Posted February 13, 2009 Share Posted February 13, 2009 I just installed IMAP support for Gmail through Evolution. I believe the problem is that you are not specifying the right port for the connection. In Evolution there is no field for ports, so for incoming (IMAP) server you type (different port for POP): imap.gmail.com:993 and similar for outgoing (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com:587 Hope this helps.
