The 54 Club

Featured Replies

As previously stated I have good reason to be 54kilos, some of you don't, so here is Mossy's thread on how not to be 54kilos.

Champ

A simple tasty dish of mash potatoes and scallions

Method Peel and boil some potatoes according to the number of portions (allow about 1lb per person) One pound mind, no less!

New season potatoes are best but do not over boil the potatoes should be cook but not "watery" next take a bunch of scallions and chop into ½" lengths chop the white bulb as well these should be placed in a pot and just covered with fresh milk (Do not use semi-skimmed) bring the milk to the boil and simmer for a minute or so then add to the potatoes mash the whole lot together with the addition of a knob of salted butter until the potatoes are smooth. Garnish with some freshly chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Champ is an ideal accompaniment to bacon, grilled beef sausages, lamb chops etc.,

Hmmm sounds great to me

Any other ideas on kilo busting menus?

Good Luck

Yes, champ, yummy! With bacon and cabbage or even curlykale, don't overcook the greens though.

ps hey moss, can you remember the mashed potato dish with curlykale? Used to be very popular at halloween. Can't remember the name for the life of me...

I think you are referring to Colcannon Tigs

Good Luck

Your body craves sweet, protien and fat, it needs carbohydrate - that's why cake tastes so good (even before it reaches the oven). You can't go wrong with that combination in any from. I made bread at home yesterday - with butter melting into the warm flesh of the bread it was ideal start for that extra kg.

Ice cream and peanuts is another good combination.

hot dogs stuffed with peanut butter and wrapped in bacon rashers then grilled and served in a butter soaked oven hot bread roll with lashings of onion and barbeque sauce then washed down with ice cold beer. Side order of potato wedges dusted with herbs and garlic or ground chilli and a sour cream dipping sauce.

Guaranteed for a few kilos.

Sunds great Chimpy. But is that peanut butter or satay sauce?

Isn't that the Elvis diet?

That's crunchy peanut butter. But I'm sure a satay sauce would be just as tasty.

More or less....less cheese actually.

Is that cheddar cheese or tasty?

:o

Since we're talking about hot dogs I think a Cheestix would be appropriate, so I guess it's cheddar.

Definately not

OK I give in

Moss

The best reason to be 55 is because its a Fibonacci Number.

21 + 34

Ah, thanks Moss, it was driving me nuts!!! :o

It can be Patsy, but I believe traditionally it would have been curlykale, however as with a lot of things Irish, it would probably have been made up with left over food stuff.

Moss

Yep, curlykale it was, however, as moss said, most of these things evolved out of leftover food stuffs. Irish stew is a classic example, all your leftovers dumped into a stew. So thick you could stand a spoon up in it! :o

Jeez boots you almost threw my 52 kilo weight off my seat....

I just made some champ. And if there is any leftovers i shall make sort of potato cakes with them.

Bon appetit everyone!!

Bubble and Squeak!

Has anything ever been so aptly named? They say it's because of the noise it makes while you cook it, but we all know the truth! :D

My dear old mum used to make the best potato cakes ever, with a fried egg on top for a 'foodtastic experience. Fried in dripping of course, for that 'day nearer a heart attack' feeling. :o

Must be British food. I am afraid I grew up with a health food mother and we never ate this kind of crap. Oops, food I mean :o

Hey sbk, the point is that when we ate this kind of food (crap) we were all slim and healthy. No one was fat when I was a lad and yet 'technically' we ate anything and everything. I think the modern obesity problem is actually a case of too much abundance.

More likely, too little exercise. You can eat practically as much as you want as long as you are prepared to burn it off.

No no no... Moss has a problem keeping weight on! He needs ideas for gaining weight. Moss old boy I am now down to 56 and I am 175cms so that's not so good. My carer said that avacados are really 'good fat' to put on so I've been indulging in avocados with salt and pitta bread - yummy. Also eating bananas in pitta bread with lashings of butter :o
